Add five more dead deer to my total !!!! I walk/run 2 miles every morning, this morning I saw one fawn compared to the dozens I used to see a month ago.......... Game and Parks thinks we will lose half of the herd statewide. I'm thinking more than that!!!

It is weird. Here you might loose all the deer in a 3 mile area. 3 miles out nothing changed. I think it has to do with range of the flies that spead the infection. At first they were talking that all the feeding stations and food plots that bring deer into close contact were the problem. I think it is the flies.

That's 21 dead on my place..... And over 40 dead on a mile section (mine and the neighbor's). I've taken reports of dead deer south past Creighton... and all the way north to the Missouri River... It will be safe to say the "peak" is over and we will be lucky to put meat in the freezer this winter from close to home. Last night I called Mitch, one of our twins, and asked him to scout around his area (Baltic, South Dakota) as I will be forced to once again to hunt out of state, for the first time in years....

To add insult to injury Allie called from the school bus this morning and said " Dad there's a dead deer 20 yds south of the driveway on the eastside of the road." YUP number 22 within 20 yds of the house!!!!

I didn't even get a chance to put in for a permit but so far I have not heard of a problem with blue tongue here in SD. There are some left over tags and I had checked and seen that there were mule deer buck tags left over for the area I hunted last year but when I went to put in for one they had already sold.

Morgan county IN update. It is hitting hard around the morgan monroe state forest. Dead and sick dear all found dead near water sources.
Been working in ripley county past few weeks and the boys down there have seen no problems at all. Ripley county was hard hit 6 years ago with Blue tonge.
DD is there a sheep farm near your area. Not a few sheep but like a ranch, EHD in sheep can cross over to deer. There is a few sheep farms right around Morgan county area and the sheep have tested positive but it does not make them sick. Might be worth looking into.

But I never had a pair. I always thought they were yours. You were the one that never culled anything that I knew of.
