I posted this too but it seems gone also so will put it hear. I am geting two old trucks soon for restoreing. One is a 1944 Chevy millitary style 4X4 fire truck with 3,658 actural miles. It has ben siting out side though for the last 30 years. Also I am geting a Ford model T truck, I do not know the year yet. I may get them this week yet? but not shure as I must wait till the guy giveing them to me hauls them for me also. LOL. I checked on tires for the chevy and 6 tires & tubes looked to be around $1500 so this is not going to all be free LOL.

Military non diectinal , 6 tires & tubes 700x20 I was guessing the size as I would need to check but the truck is 1-1/2 ton four wheel drive with duals on back. They were also 10 ply. I agree more shoping is nessasary.

Had an neighbor who bought a duece & half back in the 70 to put a feed wagon on it, & I drove it once, it was differant and a good tuck for the job he bought it for. I have ben thinking on this ford model T truck also and today got to wondering if my mother could still get a copy of the title to dad old model T Truck ? if so I could restore my dads old tuck as many of the parts will be from his truck. I can remeber as a kid dad was cleaning out old papers and gave me the title to play with as he thought he would not need it anymore and at the time I'm sure I didn't either as dad had made it into a traler and I do still have that and a few other parts from it but not the title.

Those truck are highly sought after. The cars also but the trucks are more rare since they were used more.
We used the duece and a half in parades for the ball team when we were in baseball and it still takes his kids ball team in the parade each year.

Of i ever get down south or out in the southwest again I am going to try to get a good old used car.
A 1965-1972 buick Rivera, or maybe a regal of the same years. The rivi had the greenhouse back window.
A buick grand national circa about 1987.
A el camino or an old station wagon from chevy. Some thing different for a good price with no body rust. I can rebuild the rest.
Two much salt around here to find a good deal on anything that is not going to cost a fortune.

It's hard to get a good deal on any vehicle anymore that will not be just a money pit and no reprive when selling it either. Thats why I went to tractors & now takeing a chance on old trucks, As the less bodyworks, electrical, and interior their is the better. Complicated = $

Mention of deuce and a half's makes me wonder. . . Studebaker made a bazillion of those during WW2. The got used anywhere American soldiers went. Besides that, a huge number of deuce and a halfs were shipped to Russia- that was the standard truck for the Russian army. I wonder what happened to all those trucks in Russia.

Half seriously, I wonder if some are still being used over there. I suspect a collector with some bucks could buy up quite a few of them and ship them back here.

A guy I used to work with has one of those 4x4 fire trucks you mentioned. His is fully restored and draws a huge crowd every time he drove it work. I asked him about the hearing protectors that were hanging from a rack in the cab. He says the thing is so noisy at highway speeds that he has to wear the earmuffs to keep from getting a headache. It's a neat rig though and, according to him, will go virtually anywhere.
Regarding the "deuce and a halfs", either the History or Military Channel had a special on them a while back. They showed that many were still is use, particularly in the third world countries.

I took a 2nd look at the ford Starliner and will pass on it, the more I looked the more it looked like a money pit, money worth while in my trucks.
