THE TRUCKS ARE HOME!! This morning we got the fire truck and then went back and got the Model T, I still have to bring home my dads model T truck. Between both model T's most all the parts are their [not nessasarly in good shape lol.] I belive I am missing one cab door & the steering collum & wheel & electrical stuff, The rest I have in some type of condition I also have a homemade tractor with a model T steering collum & wheel, but maybe I can find another? lol. I am realy stoked over the challenge of compleating this Ford model T, my goal is in 5 to 6 years??? To be able to drive it to town for coffee & icecream. The chevy in less than one year???

Just waiting for someone now to tell me to get rid of my junk or build a fence. lol.
You know the model T truck would make a good dive in tin tee-pee camper at the shoots?

Just was able to identify the year of the Model T truck given to me, it is a 1926. I am still working on dads model T in trying to Identify it. Both trck chassies were excatly the same and had the same steel cab but this cab is in poor shape and dads is now gone. I now belive I may be able to make the fire tuck box into a flat bed just by removeing the tank and upper deck walls? Sean & I with a can of Gibbs & WD-40 oiled every thing I thought nessasary now the doors & windows are working smoth, the hood latches can be moved ect. by the way the motor & compartment looked great. The registration says the truck is a 2 ton, I know the front axel and gear box make a 4x4 pickup look like a tooth pick for an axel. In seans words that truck is totaly awesome!! I think he wants to just paint it the origanal OD green and leave it just as it is, ?? Their is a spot light on the back of the truck & he asked what are you going to do with that if you make it a flat bed? I said I was not shure but I would like to keep it, and sean says me too. it has two spot lights on the cab also as well as a rotating red light & the siren has a red light as well. Sean says to get hit by that truck would be like geting hit by a locomotive both are made the same, all steel. lol.

I'm starting along with sean to think I should maybe just leave the fire truck as it is, at least in looks other than to paint it all original OD green. I will cut out the water tank as it is rusted out, this has also damaged the upper out sides on the fire box that were part of the tank, and that will need cut out & patched. If I ever want it a working fire truck I'm shure all one would need is to fit in a plastic tank to do the same job of the old steel tank. I don't think there are likely many OD green 1944 chevy 2 ton 4x4 fire trucks left or that many in the 1st place. This truck started life at the Gand Island Ordinace plant, then a G.I. Airport crash truck, then on to Concord RFD. Then to me & a friend 30 years ago then I parted my 1/2 to my friend and now 30 years after it has come back to me.

My grandson Sean has me pretty much talked into leaving the fire truck pretty much original, will cut out the rusted water tank is about all & paint OD green, If we ever want a water tank I'm shure we can find a plastic one to fit in.

I have two chances for pictures, both slim. DD & my granddaughter, both hard to trap in my yard with their camera.

Just bought my 1st missing part fot the Model T truck, the widshild wiper was missing and is the 1st part I found $9.99 it needs the windshild glass also but I may have found a guy in SD. who may have that? This will be a peice by peice truck for shure. Usualy I hunt down all the parts before realy geting into the project but this one will be some differant as I will strip the old down & start with frame & axels on stands, do the wheels then build up peace by peace as I am able and find the parts as I go along.
The 1944 chevy 4x4 firetruck, On this I decided to leave pretty much as is except for paint, & tires, I will paint it the Original OD Green with non derectinal militay type tires. bigest hold up is money lol, as both are costly as to the tires & paint.

Nice, Bounce. One question. . . I'd guess a Model T windshield would be flat. Couldn't a local glass shop make one up for you?

Jack I too wonder about that? was the glass in a ford T any stronger than regular glass? I don't know and am not shure that they were yet then, I do think henrey Ford was the 1st with safty glass but that may have ben later. Some how that old glass just seems like better than I will get at the lumber yard but maybe not. The model T's maybe considerd quite simple but I know next to nothing yet about them so I have much to learn and will if I am to ever to drive it.

Bounce, maybe they used tempered glass in the windshields, I don't know. But, if they did, that's no problem- tempered glass is used in store display cases, etc, and is a pretty common item for a glass shop to deal with. Tempered glass is a bit thicker than your basic windowpane, and when it breaks, it breaks into tiny pieces, rather than big jagged shards.

I finaly got dads old model T Truck trailer free from the tree growing through the frame & tounge in front of the box saturday, tree is still there but got it cut under the tounge with out hiting any more steel with the chain saw like I did on my 1st try. Cut as much as I could then used two floor jacjs to raise it as much as they could, then hooked a chain to a clevis on my pickup and took off and it broke free, the tree I mean lol. Not shure if I will get it hauled home today or not but will get it home soon. Just saw on ebay a flat bed only just like it for $500 so it's even worth something and I have the frame, with rearend & wheels also. Will be one sharp box fixed up.

Got dad's old model T truck home this morning, was almost cold on the tractor early today, but I was warm by the time I had it unloaded. Now I figure it's about 6 years of loveing care to revive the old girl, at least this is my goal with it now. The 44 chevy my goal is one year, with luck less.

Even with two ford model TT trucks I have a lot of parts missing as well as most all needing rebuilding. One major thing missing was the steering, I think I got that now largely taken care of as I'm getting one from e-bay for $15 + 20 for shiping. this at least makes me feel like I have most all of one, lol.

Was whisk brooming out the cab of the fire truck and under the seat found two brass hose nosels & a crank. The truck does have several feet of hose on a real on each side the truck. I likely knew this 30 years ago but had forgoten just like I had forgot about the army matanance manual in the glove box it's about 2 " thick and covers everything as to fix & repair, probibly worth more than the truck lol.
