103 quail yet this morning, must be down to the very hearty ones's ? but I like it, When it goes smooth this serrogater is smooth as all work is done. Two weeks old today, best read directions for 3rd week. lol. Was now just through the directions in full and can say this I will not start quail in april ever again and use the serrogator, Out side temps are just not as compatable as I once recintly had thought the serrogator could handle. I would have ben better to have used my old pen & system in this weather. live & learn . But I think now I will like the serrogator very much once the weather is right.

Had to refill the gas bottle today, good thing it was a pretty nice day as it ended up takeing about 4 hours or more to get it filled and lighted again, All the quail were huddeled in the sun till the heat was on again. If things were going right one would run out of gas at the end of the 3rd week by the book anyway with a 40# tank

102 still, Today was a bit of work maintaining the serrogator. Had to devide the quail off in the screened haff so I could work with the big lid open, by useing the water spray bottle I got all but two over to the other side and the devider in, then caught the other two by hand and put them in the small door on the other side, then finished giveing them all a water spray. Then put 5 more gal of water in the big water tank [still may not be enough to finish?] and put in some viniger to this time. Needed to add feed to the feeders and opened a new bag and found pellet feed not ground feed, bought both bags at the same time and thought they were the same, so I had to get my blender from the house and grind feed with it. Debated on takeing out the heater but left it in as realy can't trust the weather yet not to get to cold at night. But now they have water & feed for a few more days, maybe till their release?

102 still, put in a tray of dirt a few days ago and the quail like it so much I noticed yesterday it was nealy scrached empty and today was so I fill it up with dirt again for them today, I just use a long flat plastic chick feeder for the tray. With dirt plastic should be ok I think but reading derections smooth plastic is a no no, they have a name for it but it ruens the birds legs. They recomend Chinett paper plates as they have a ruff texture and any thing smooth is a no no.

101 alive today at 4 weeks old, filled the dirt tray again maybe grinding feed in my blender again tomarow. Next quail will be 150 again in two weeks, will keep theise in the surragator one more week. By them is will be about the right time to start quail in the surrigator, I'm learning I think. the book says after releasing you will still lose 30% of them releast. so if all continues well I will end up with 70 birds out of this batch by hunting seasion.

After grinding about 4 galons of feed my blender burned out!! At least I may have enough feed to last till I release them? Going to need to be more carefull when buying the feed in the 1st place. Still 101 birds
