Next friday morning early we will be geting 150 Quail just born Chicks for the new serrigator we bought late last year. This is our 1st time with this box and the derections say 125 quail birds max but the guy were geting them from says all serrigator buyers are allways buying 150 at a time? so who's to argue? We have ordered 150 every 4 weeks times 4 In june we hope to start on pheasants as well, 150 straight run 1st time and 150 rosters the 2nd time. Hopeing for a good year & good luck with the birds this year.

I know on my brothers farm survival was extreamly good, as for my own I'm not a shure as the cover is heavy And none had ben seen or heard untill recintly but hearing and seeing some now but no take on numbers yet hear. My fingers are crossed yet. I put out a lot of hens last year and they don't show off like rosters.

I see that ural don't work ben a long time sence I used it. Allso you could check Webster city Iowa www.mcmurrayhatchery.com 1-800-456-3280 I put olesensflyway.com on my reg. browser and got them, the pnone # are still correct, The hungaran partrige is all sold out for this year and most of all game birds to get the the hun's I belive you must call and order and pay at least 25% anytime now for next year till they are out!! likely by Oct. just a guess from looking at past years at them.

Jeff called and said he was to busy to pickup the quail friday and asked me to do it, he also sounded to busy to get hear even to set the serrogater up and this sounded like the last nice day as tomarow is high of 49 & 30 mpr wind and rain is to start and turn maybe to snow by friday. Anyway I worked all afternoon geting ready for quail then needed the directions that were at jeffs so got them so I could put the heater in & hooked up to the tank and the drip water system for watering, anyway it's together tonight and the heat is running on low. by then it was dark so tomarow I will find a thermomider and put it in so I can raise the temp to 90 as the weather gets colder, I want it ready by thursday night as need to pick up the birds friday very early and it's better than an hours drive to the hatchery. The serrogator is not complicated with directions LOL. I did have a sheet of screening I did not know how to install for a long time, hell it was a devider and just slid in from the out side, this will keep the chicks on the side of the heat for the 1st week. Pretty neat little box realy I do hope it works well?? Did not put in any feed yet, though I bought two bags today, I'm hopeing to get some from the hatchery and put it in the bottom to feed out 1st just before I put the quail in side. I think if the feeder is full it will last the 4 weeks till they are releast. Same with water & heat I think. 15 gal tank of water but wimpy me I stoped at 9gal.

Think I got the drip water fine tuned today, purged out the air in the tubes and got it hanging pretty low as new quail are about the size and looks of a huge bumble bee. The heater is set on almost 2 I put a thermomiter in and about 2:00 pm it was about 88 just now I checked and was about 73 yes it is colder now. I put the temp gauge in the corner and will check it in the morning and then turn up the heat to about 5 and see what I get. Want around 90 I think.

Bounce if I buy some Hun eggs and hatch them out would you have room for them in the "machcine" ? I'd have to figure the hatch date for when your gonna be empty, than bring them over on about hatching day so you could transfer them to the machine. But I'd give you half @ weaning time.

DD, if you read all I posted it would be end of august before were empty I think? as we have on order 3 more batches after this one of 150 quail each, Thats more than full. Likely next year I may well want to run Hun's myself but this year we pland for a pretty full year already But end of august & sept looks open on the serrogater? Just checked the temp in it now and was only 50 degrees this morning, to cold for new chicks by far so truned up the heat to just over #5 and see what that will do in an hour or so, think I would need atleast 83 or so in the cornners? after I get them up I will check it under the heater it's self. I can see in cold weather their will be a diferance now just how much?
Just checked the heat & it only raised from 50 to 53 out at the corner, I set the guage just under the edge of the special heater top ring to see what it is their, it started to jump right away. But thats realy cold for them as they go for water & feed? I'm geting a bit conserned, at least it's not far only like a foot at most. Set the burner at 6-1/2 It goes to 8 I think.

Well I have 150 quail in my dinning room, Decided not to put them in the serrogater as was pretty shure they would only die, cold & snowing to day and in my opinion just to cold out side for the serrogater would work well in a heated garage lol. Went to town and bought the bigest plastic tub they had and put a heat lamp over it, hope in a few days they can go in the serrogater.

I keep pointing out my dinning room table to the quail and tell them thats their home imprint and they must return home to that table one day.
