well i got the striker out today for a brief outing and i am pleased. i knew that with shooting only factory ammo in that 14" barrel i was not going to get the accurate results i would like but if this is any indication to what's in store for when i reload for it then there's great potential there. i first shot a pair of rem manage recoil ammo out of it at 25 yrds. had two shots cuting one another. not too much muzzle jump and no real flash. group shot about 1 1/2" low and dead center. then i shot 1 win power pt (140 gr) and it shot about 1/4" higer than the manage recoil ammo and also centered. so out to 75 yrds, 3 shots with the win power points, grouped about 2" and about 1" low. shot 3 of the manage recoil and it too was about 2" to 2 1/2" group and about 2 1/2" low. shot 3 rem express 140 gr and had two about 1" low and about 1 1/2" apart verticaly and then pushed the third way left on a rush shot. muzle blast with the full factory ammo is rather brilliant and muzzle jump was about 6" or so. i would think later when i get some ammo reloaded for this with some faster powder that 100 yrd 1 1/2" groups should not be too much of an issue. i would like to step up the 2x scope to a 4x but i can live with what i have right now

Not too bad for the first outing
The muzzle jump is about what I expected to hear from you. Considering the muzzle jump, the muzzle flash really doesn't matter because you're not going to see the hit in the scope anyway.

i've been researching my options on cleaning up the trigger some more, it's gonna cost from what i can tell. it will be something i do later down the road, same as with the scope but you never know i might find the right trade waiting for me at anytime with the scope thing. definatly need some more time behind the thing and not rushed when i do. also pistol bipod will be first thing added to it.

also pistol bipod will be first thing added to it. You plan on hunting from the prone position? I'd probably shoot it off the bags at the range and duel shooting sticks while hunting from a sitting position. Watch some Larry Weishund (I messed that spelling I'm sure) on tv or internet as he always shoots the t/c handguns.

Red the dual shooting sticks is another option i was thinking about as well but forgot to mention. i really should snap a picture of my jerry rigged way of storing this thing in my cabinet that is already over it's max. i screwed a old holster to the inside face of the door, cut a slit in the bottom so the barrel could pass through and bingo it's secure and out of the way.

Red what really bothers me is the amount of creep it has due to the transfer bars linking the trigger back to the sear. there is an outfit specializing in reworking all of that and eliminating the amount of creep and slop but it's 150.00.

that's the link for the 150.00 trigger job! yea SSS is the savage guru, there's about a 6 month wait, if i sent it in there i would have the bolt timing thing done too but then i would be shelling out about 400.00 all said and done and then my bargain pistol aint anymore i'll shoot it some more and then think about it next summer.

well the scope on this pistol is a older but in "New Condition" Leupold M8 2x EER, i have just agreed ti a trade with a guy for a Burris 4x EER hand gun scope. we are swapping even up. his is suppose to be in exelent shape too, i guess time will tell. i called and talked to technical support at Burris today because i'm illiterate on their scopes. this scope i'm tradeing for has it's paralex set at 100 yrds and is life time garantee even if you are not the original owner, just like leupold does. i just wanted a touch more optic for 100 yrd plinking but i wanted a fixed power scope and i think this should be fine. however if i live to regret the trade it will not be the first time . should have the trade wrapped up within a week and then back out shooting again.
