Yup, Two Moons is going to have to do some TLC. I tried to take it down so that it could be shipped broke down and put oil on it and let it soak and it just would not come apart. I don't want to ship it in one piece as one of the illustrious UPS workers might decide he needs a bridge and use the box to make it with. Its how they break so many guns for people. Most of the UPS drivers I have met are nice people but their warehouse people cannot be the brightest bricks on the block. Soooo are you saying you haven't sent it yet ? i'd rather get it undamaged than broken up...

D/D just got another turkey gun going. He put a stock on an old 870 and is dolling it up. I got him talked into cutting the tube at 22 and putting in a turkey choke. This will be a good one but for me the stock is high enough for a scope or a red dot.

Na shipping is the same price no matter how much work it takes to get it into the box. I finally got mad and just cut enough off the barrel to get it to fit into the box so it looks like its going out Monday. You will never notice D-D and its almost legal.

Yea thanks BILL, I needed MORE work before turkey season. It is a nice gun though. The sear problem may just be dirt, but if it has to be recut and hardened it mon't take much.

Two Moons. I think if you thread the inside of the barrel stub and then the outside of the left over part you can screw them back together. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Na actually I think it will be a fun gun once its all cleaned up and the sear notch re cut and the barrel polished out. When that gun came in I looked at it and said "This is a Dep-Don gun" Didn't even put it out on the rack or anything. Just packed it up and got it ready to ship. Really worried me though putting it in a box like we did as some of the UPS people should of been bridge builders cause they like to set boxes like that across two other boxes and walk across them. Kind of rough on guns. The scariest part of selling a gun is shipping it. One thing about it, you won't find many other people out there using a gun like yours to hunt turkey's with. Heck it wouldn't even bother me to put in screw chokes and then put on a turkey choke. Makes a heck of a conversation piece.

Well here's the skinny on DD 's turkey gun. The sear and hammer were in good shape but the whole action was fillled with dirt, dust ans dead bugs. This one has been hanging in the attic for a long time. The action cleaned up well and the gun is not in bad overall shape. I spread the stock and used accra glass on the crack and it is almost invisible now and is as strong as new, The only real probllem is that the action strut or dog bone is a replacment and is just a hair too long and as is the breech block rises too high and the firing pin hits at the very top edge of the primer. I am going to fix that this weekend. The barrel cleaned up well with just a liittle piitting. I had to put in a new retractor spring in the firing pin and a new screw to hold the main spring. The gun has a 34" full choke barrel and shoots full with B/P loads. (Another one I got to shoot first!) The gun is pretty light and 1 1/4 and 85 of FFg is a good load. This should be good out to 30+ yards. I also tightened the breech block a little so the headspace is now right on the money.
