I think that big dog did have papers but I never asked to see them. I went out and played with him a lot as the owner tended to leave him chained. I liked him and he liked me too. He got hit by a car, and I offered to adopt him, but the owner put him down. He wasn't even hurt that bad really. But that guy was a dick.
I'm with you Boyd. Making laws against a breed of dog... next thing you know... you'll only be alowed to dive Fords in town.

You guys have a great point. Lets keep the vicious animals so that we have yet another reason to have guns. I would never have thought of that. Good thinking.

Now thats funny dakota, Truth is their are allways peaple trying to breed a biger bader dog and way to many peaple think that's kool and want one. it's very dangerious and most desgusting to the puplic they love to intimadate on purpious. Both the owner & the dog should be locked up together for a week with just water and see how the owner loves his dog yet at the end of the week!!.... if he is still around? ?

I wasn't going to chime in until I noticed Dakota's latest post ;D I have some very bad news for some of you. Are you ready??? (whispering] I think you're going to end up agreeing with what I'm going to say Up until recent modern history dogs were breed for a specific purpose - ussually either hunting or gaurd dogs. What you are doing with Rots, pinchers, pits, and I'll even say curs is "domesticating" them to a social/urban situation. I'm not saying that it can't be done...because it can and rather easily. However, normal decent urban human beings are going to choose spaniels, toy dogs, etc over the guard dogs that the both white and black trash of the United States sterotypically own. Not that all pit and rot owners are trash...but the vast magority probably are - either with major criminal convictions and/or economically poor. (no proof, but's my educated guess). Let's compare dog species and what it can reasonably do to a human. A lab or hound - you can sit there all day long whacking him in the head with a rolled up newspaper and he might bite you. A pit and rot as well as a bad tempered german, cur, and pincher--- you're going to the emergency room for some serouis stitches. I don't think banning dogs is a referendum on the species itself. It is a way of controlling who lives in the neighborhood. This is escecially true of urban cities who are looking to clean up and take back their town from crime. The fight against meth (and other drugs) and gangs is a big part of it - so is creating decent paying jobs. To a smaller extend if you ban dogs that are stereotypically owned by the people you don't want in your town, you are creating yet another push to exterminate the trash living by your family. People will move away to were commiting crimes and having dogs that symbolize their owners lifestyle will be easier.

Maybe where you live, BH, you can think that. HERE, it's another story. I can't count the number of maulings and attacks from pits and their lookalikes that have happened here in the past 4-5 years, but it's substantial. I can think of three, minimum, that resulted in fatalities, and so many more resulting in permanent injury. The owners are usually dumbasses, whether that just rubs off on the dog, or the dogs encourage that trait in their owners, IT DOESN'T MATTER, when someone gets hurt over it. All I'll say is this, if I see one acting up, it's dead, I don't care if the owner is standing there watching, it's dead.

You mean to tell me that no other breed of dog attacked anyone in your area. ?Please.....Those are the ones you "DON'T" here about.Ever hear about the Peakanees(sp)? that killed and started eating a baby a few years back????No???How about the Pit Bull that saved a little girls life that was being attacked in a park by someones loving hound.Every breed has bad dogs...THAT MEANS ALL OF THEM..If we banned every breed of dog that has bitten or killed someone. You might just as well take old trusty fido out back right now and put a bullet to him......I am done with this thread.Like I said you better hide all your guns....They will come for them next

I hope this link can end. I wish I never started it. I very much hate mean vicious animals, especially dogs that are bred to kill and maim and would like to get rid of them all. It won't happen. Boydheaton likes pit bulls. I hate them. No matter what I say, I doubt Boydheaton will start hating them. No matter what Boydheaton says I will never stop hating pit bulls. I love friendly dogs, especially hunting dogs. You can have your bark bark dog that lives in the house with grandma, I don't like the barking but hey I understand why grandma needs a companion. I will never understand having vicious dogs, perhaps because I will never live in an area where I feel I need their 'protection'. Boydheaton if you have read this post this far, have a last say if you will but lets call a truce. OK?

You know, what sets this forum apart from other websites is the fact that we don't cross the line or add to things that can make tensions worse.
I'll call a truce too

Agreeing to disagree... Everybody has some opinions that are directly opposite of others. Being able to accept that fact, without bitterness and animosity, is what seperates us from politicians.... ;D ;D

I'll agree too, with one last jab...
I hate viscious dogs too... but all dogs of a given breed are not viscious, regardless of the breed and what the media says.
Personal experience, and I have been around several pit bulls, I have been bitten by labs, collies, border collies, chihuahua's, Rotweillers, Chows, Boston Terriers, and mutts but never a Pit Bull.
