so i have this CZ 455 FS at home that i still need to scope. i have been looking for the right scope to look correct on the mannlicher model rifle. anyway a couple weeks ago i bought a used Nikon 1.5-4.5x20 pre-monarch made in japan scope for the task. the scope had some serious ring marks on the tube, to the point it really looks as if someone used 3/4" rings on a 1" scope body anyway the guy wanted too much for it in my humble opinion and i stated so much to him. i explained if i ever sent it in for repairs it would be hard pressed for anyone to refute that damage had occured due to consumer error! But i also knew Nikon is pretty good about taking care of their customers. i even offer to the seller that he should send it in for repair and would probably end up with a brand new scope that he could then sell at a much higher pricer but he didn't want to wait and find out. so i bought it at a discount and upon receiving it i immediatly sent it in to Nikon for a tune up because i felt the image was a tad blurry. well today UPS is dropping off a brand new Nikon Monarch African 1-4x20 to my house free of charge. i know a lot of folks rave about leupolds customer service (and rightfully so) howefver this is the second used nikon i have bought (and disclosed to nikon i bought it used) and both times they sent me a brand new scope in place. both times there was visible user neglect and abuse clearly shown. i just wanted to take the time for others to hear/read my first hand experiance with Nikon on the two occasions i've used them.

Nikon Monarch African 1-4x20 is going to look near perfect on the manny.... Mount it low as possible.
Never thought about them on a little rimfire but I used a refield gold five star on my win 9422 for years and loved it. I now have it setting on daad's 44 mag marlin.

Nikon Monarch African 1-4x20 is going to look near perfect on the manny.... Mount it low as possible. The limiting factor on the rings will be the size of the ocular. CZ rimfires are notorious for having interference with the bolt hitting the ocular if you mount them too low. And this Nikon has a large ocular for a larger eye box and wide field of view. I'm going to go with Burris signature rings.

I also think CZ have an 11mm groove. Nothing wrong going with burris signature rings but look at the BKL rings for 11mm applications. 3/8 rings work somewhat. 11mm are a better fit. I like my scopes low so the levers, autos, and single shots get them with the smaller mag scopes.
Since I am not a huge bolt gun fan I forget about bolt clearance isssues. My old savage 340 had a near 90 degree throw and made working the bolt with heavy gloves near impossible. t went down the road. I just have the rem 700's now. The savage should have become a winter camo rifle but I sold it to get the safe.

Burris ships two different clamp pieces with their 22 dovetail style rings to accommodate either the 3/8" or 11mm

If you like 1-4 type scopes, as I do, that Nikon African sounds great. I haven't seen one. Leupold makes a couple good ones, no surprise there. For a budget priced scope in that category, Weaver makes a 1-3 in their V series. They go for about 150$ the last time I saw a price on one. I have a couple of them, and so do some of my friends- the Weaver has performed very well.

Dag gummit. So I have the new scope and today my rings come and I mount it all up. Well the med rings are just a frogs hair too low the the bolt hits the power ring on the occular. This African model has an extra large ocular for a more forgiving eyebox and field of view. I either have to order the high rings or trade this scope off for a different one.

Ok so I have yet another option. If I go with a picaney rail converter that uses the dovetail and then go with STD med signature rings it will buy my about 1/16" more ht in the assembly. Think that is what I'm going to do. Now to see if optics planet will exchange the rings for different ones or if I will have to sell them myself.

OPTICS PLANET>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I HATE THEM>>>>>>>
They charged mY CC on 7-14-2010 for a scope I bought online. 3 months later I had still not recieved my scope. The web site said IN STOCK. I guess they had to wait till the boat from Japan came in. I gave them a piece of my mind and then let my CC company get my money back, Good luck getting anthing from OPTICS PLANET>
I now order thru SWFA, If something is not in stock they don't charge the CC for it until it ships out to me.

I have no experience in dealing with Optics Planet, so, I can't comment. I've bought from both SWFA and BearBasin more than once, with no problems at all. They had what they said they had, and the service was fast.

Oh my bad, it was The Optic Zone not Optic Planet, I'm get the names mixed up all the time. They were 10.00 cheaper than Midway USA. Anyway today I committed to buying a picaney rail adapter for the 11mm dovetail and I'll get a STD pair of the Burris Signature rings in med ht. Man I will say this glass on the new Nikon is really really nice, can't wait to get ti together and to the range.
