Quail 131 I'm thinking I may no longer have one with a bad leg.
Pheasants 124 Plan to remove the tin ring around them today and give them the hole pen

Quail 129 Pheasants 124
Took out the tin circle and gave the pheasants the hole pen today and added new ceader branches as habitat.
The quail suprised me with the two losses so I put the water jug back in just in case it helps from dehydration for some, also gave them all a water mist spray to get the oil glans working again As of yet they have not went after the dirt like the 1st batch? I took out the matt with the small holes for their feet, it's for the 1st week only.

I keep reading about what your doing and having a hard time understanding why it is so much work. My brother in law has a surrogateor that all he does is hook it up to water and electricity at the ranch and checks it but that is only to make sure it is still running and at the end of the time they recommend it to be hooked up he opens the door and leaves it set for a couple days and that is it. He says he has very few losses. He does the same with both quail and pheasants and has been doing this for a number of years. Its really helped on both populations.

Quail 129 Pheasants 124
Bill the surragattor is pretty easy realy, Your just hearing everything I do and that sounds like work more than it is lol. but mostly it is just checking to remove the dead and the service work between batches, moveing, warshing & gas , feed & water tank. The warm water mist & dirt are in the derections as well. Now for pheasants I use my old pen and like it best for them but it is a little more work Feeding & watering + the habitat I need in it as they grow. I maybe could fix feeders & water as in a suragator but have not yet and the Habitat gets me around haveing to put little blinders on each bird that I would think your bother in law would have to do with evey batch of pheasants. I don't wish to do that if I can avoid it.

Quail 127 Pheasants 124 Pheasants are able to fly out of my pen now when I feed & water them, I have devised a screen to slide over the hole partly when I open the lid but from now on a net is needed in case any escape. Same with the quail so will need to carey the net in my bird mobil at all times now & have it ready. It is usealy easy to catch them if done right away as they land on top or close by but I remember 3 one time just took off and left for good lol.

June 14 Quail 126 Pheasants 122 1st dead one I don't belive I had myself anything to cause it. Boy did they ever wish to fly out of the pen this morning, my pull over screen saved the day though and allowed me to take care of feeders & water.

Quail 126 Pheasants 122, two did go wild even though I was useing my safety screen but I was able to get both back after waiting for them to come back, the one that flew out the fatherest was real hard to catch though after he returened would dart in tall grass if he senced me at all.
