Had some hyperthermia troubles this morning as several were close to dead around the outer edges of the surrogator, moved them all closer to the heat and most revived in a few minnets but did through out three this afternoon. Guess I have now learned when to use a surrogator in are airea, start in mid may and last batch mid august. Shorter than I would have expected. Yes I do know how to streach that a bit, maybe a haff month on each end.
Quail 150, yes my extras are now gone.

Quail 141 thinking kind of a week hatch maybe, some hatches are just stronger than others but with quail they always seem to be in a rush to die the 1st week, some seem enemic but others seem normal big & strong and croke also.

Quail 139 only 2 dead this morning, hopeing this is a sign it will slow down soon?
Ben thinking of trying the Reaves Pheasant next year if I can get some?? Talking to Marty our quail guy he said the reaves pheasant is extreamly dangerous bird and can easy kill a man, A hundered or so should gard the farm well lol. Think he was talking about keeping them in their fly pens for breeding and takeing care of adults in that seting has killed and nearly killed many. He knew of one guy that nearly died in the hospital twice by reaves. "I want some"

I think it is 3 things at differant levels, the move & it being a weak hatch, and getting feet caught in matting, the temp may have mattered some at 1st but not realy sence as the temp normaly is constant yet just that one day the 1st day did I spot trubble with the temp. And some may have ben buched on & trapled & smotherd, I do belive it will level out at some level soon as they grow and get older so fast and more hardie, mostly just thining the weak.
