I have been into long range shooting for quite a while and am always looking for rifles that will do 1000 yards or better accurately. This summer I picked up a couple and was slowly get the components together to reload for them and new optics for them. One was a New Remington Sendero in 7MM Rem Mag and the other was a Remington Sendero in .300 Win Mag. Both of them cost a pretty good chunk of money and due to the cost was making it slow to gather up the reloading components and optics.
Then I ran into a deal I could not refuse. Seems Remington has a deal that they give to stocking dealers called a pro-form. In other words you can buy a gun at less than cost once a year. I checked on it and found they were going to clearance out and drop the Sendero's. With some finagling I ended up getting rid of the .300 Win Mag and shortly will have a .264 Win Mag. to add to my Long Range guns. I already have a .300 Remington Ultra Mag so the .300 WM did not really serve a purpose or a gain. The 7MM Rem mag I had already gathered up the dies and brass and bullets and powder for it so it stayed but I had a 700 ADL in 7MM RM I picked up cheap that is like new and my brother needed an elk rifle so it went his way for a bit less than I paid for it as I like him and he really didn't have the money so what the heck.
So now I have a New Sendero 7MM Rem Mag which is now sporting the Mk4 Tactical 6.5X20X50 Leupold and will shortly have a Sendero in .264 Win Mag which will be carrying a Leupold 6.5X30X50 VX3LR Target. Both should be fun guns to play with and once their all set up I'm going to see just how far I can splatter a PD with them. ;D ;D
I have to be careful as my wife does not care what I buy, she only made me promise that the herd will only get so big. How I swap and trade and end up with the same number of guns is up to me. So shortly I will end up with
.300 RUM Rem 700 custom built Leo 6.5X20 VXIII LR T
.308 Win Rem 700 VSF NF 5.5X25 NPR2
7MM Rem Mag Rem 700 Sendero II Leo MK4 6.5X20 TMR
.264 Win Mag Rem 700 Sendero II Leo 6.5X20
.25-06 AI Rem 700 Custom built Leo 6.5X20
6MM AI Rem 700 Custom built Leo 4.5X14
.243 Ruger 77MKII RSI Cab AG 4.5X14
.223 Rem Rem 700 VS Leo 14X35 custom
.22 LR Rem 541T Nicon 6.5X20
.22 LR Kimber SVT Leo 6.5X20
So if I retire next year (if the stock market comes back and treats me right) ;D I should have enough LR guns to more than take care of my LR PD needs.
The group should just about take care of most of my shooting needs although I can still have two more than this number of rifles without getting the wife's dander up. I'm thinking another .25-06 and maybe a .338 -.300 RUM for real long range. ;D Those can go into next years wish list. I just hope I don't run into something I just can't live without between now and then as it has taken a long time to gather up this group that should just about fit all my wants although the group is a bit on the heavy side for walking except for the Ruger 77 as most of them weigh a bit more than the average rifle. Now just so I can stay in good enough shape to haul them around while hunting. Course if I can't walk far I can just stay where I'm at and shoot from there. ;D ;D ;D
