Red, you don't understand mass marketing, look how many they will sell! I'd hate to be the poor sod who mis priced them, but even at $13 thats not a bad price now days.

I finally got out somewhere to sight in my new toy... I got it sighted in at 50 meters and can actually hit a target with it. I don't care too much for the Tasco Red Dot I put on top of it but it will work until I can get something else.
I'm going to head out to Mom's house for a while today and try to kill a grounghog that's been living in her old barn. I figure with these hot Federal hollow point loads I got, I should be able to put one down at 50 meters or so. We'll see.

If you put a regular scope on it, you'll have to let us know how the ammo is. Any misfires or do they sound different?

all i can say is if that had been Red or myself and stumbled onto those shells at that price, every cousin, brother and friend would be shooting 22 rimfire often and for cheap!! ;D i would have cleared the shelves and maxed out my visa (heck at those kind of prices it would have all been able to be had by cash) anyway glad to hear the rifle is working out for you, the ammo certainly has, now go out and have 500 rnds of fun!

Red, so far I had one jam and I've shot up about 200 rounds. I am pretty sure the jam was my fault. I loaded the 10 round magazine with 9 rounds. It was pretty tight. I started putting 7 in the mag and it works fine. I've ordered two 25 round mags for it. Midway has them on sale for $15 each. It will definately increase my fire power. As far as acting different, they are a whole lot louder than my other 22's. I have to say, they are accurate. Even with that dumbazz reddot scope, I can put them in a 2" circle at 50 meters.
I'm sorry I haven't taken that pic of the box yet but the only time I think about it is when I come on here and then my wife's gone with the camera in the car. I'll get it one of these days.

I find it funny you have a 10 round clip, you're shooting only 7, and you're getting a 25 rounder ;D ;D ;D BTW --- from what I understand of the 3 or so brands of high capacity's on the market for the 10/22, only 1 of them works right. I forget which one it is. You might want to hold off on the order and do some research.

There's one out there that has the Remington name on it. That's the only one that works right in the 597 according to what I've been reading. That's the one I just bought. I don't know who accually makes it for Remington but the others on the market bear their own names and not the Remington name. Any way, I hope the thing works.

Well Red, I hate to admit this but you were right. The extended magazine (even-though it has the Remington Label on it) SUCKS!!! .... First it's a 30 round mag that you cannot put more then 20 rounds in or it will jam. Then there's no guarentee that it's not going to jam anyway. My first mag with 25 rounds I had to shuck the first 5 rounds because they wouldn't load. After that you could rapid-fire all 20 that was left in the mag. Then I loaded it with 20 rounds and tried to rapid fire it and it jammed 3 times within the 20 rounds.
So I think I've wasted my $15 plus shipping. I'm happy it wasn't $100 or I'd really be pissed.
Anyway, I used the same ammo in my 10-22 and never had a jam or a misfire. So I don't think it was the ammo. Oh, the 10 round mag that came with it shoots 7 or 8 rounds non-stop with no jams... so my estimation of the whole situation is that the new, extended, 30 round clip is a piece of crap. I should have taken your advice in the first place and just stayed with what I had. (((did I just say that??? )))

I don't trust 3rd party extra capacity .22 clips. We bought a Ram Line 30-shot clip for my son's 10/22 and it turned an otherwise flawlessly operating gun into a jammamatic. In all the thousands or rounds we have shot through that gun it has only ever jammed with that Ram Line clip (at least to my recollection). I don't think we were ever able to shoot one whole clip full of ammo without a jam. It's probably just as well as I believe the large capacity magazines just encourage spraying the countryside anyway.

I'd call the company and tell them they're going to be buying their clip back from you I'm glad the original factory on works fine

I just wonder if maybe that's a closeout clearance price. One would think they would have been able to get rid of them closer to regular price though.
