Picked up another rimfire last week. I had a CZ 452 E2 American .17HMR come in NIB. It's mine now. Has a 24" Fluted blued barrel with a nice walnut stock and the CZ set trigger. Should make one heck of a nice PD rifle. Was going to go out yesterday but the wind blew too hard for any decent shooting so it will wait till the next day off when I can get out.

Bill, just about every CZ rimfire i've seen lately has had better than decent wood on it.

Turkish walnut is nice. Not as grain dense at american walnut, but very pleasant to the eye.
I look at the LUx version at the local gun pusher all the time. Something about a 28 barrel on a 22 with a nice peep sight is calling me. If I were such a sucker for non bolt actions I am sure one would follow me home.

Thats the problem here. I'm a sucker for .22's. Every time I buy a .22 Mag or anything like that I get rid of it after a while. Not the .22's though. My 77/22 Mag Ruger was an awesome shooter. Didn't even last a year. One of the guys I use to shoot with owns it now. He know how well it shot. Same story on a number of other .22 Mags. I did have one .17HMR that I bought but before I could get it shot I traded it on something else I really wanted. This one I plan on seeing just what I missed at least. I have a 3000 acre PD town that I can shoot but can't use anything but a .17HMR as its too close to town. Seems every time a shooter goes on it some of the people a mile away start calling the cops. Problem I don't need. Even being with the owner does not help. And its not in the city limits either. And worse yet the S.O and Black Hills Ammo have a range on it. WTF. Oh well.

The 17 hmr should be near perfect for p-dogs. Something we don't have in Indiana.

I can't get close enough for crows with my 222 so the 17 is not going to help.
If I want to get crows, I just set up a crow decoy a bucket of red died corn and start the feeding call. What for about 10 to show up and start wingshooting them.

I never had a 22 mag and never saw a use for the 17. I have a 22 Hornet and by reloading can do anything the 22 mag and 17 can do and a bit more. Then can step up to the .222 or .223 if I need more.

...never saw a use for the 17... I agree with you on that one - IMHO it's a solution looking for a problem!

I don't disagree with you on need. Its also the reason I keep getting rid of them. ;D .17's and .22 Mags. It always seems that I start on the PD's with the .22 LR and by the time I run out of range on it I'm far enough out that I need the .223 rather than the .17 HMR. But I'm still going to try one just for giggles and see what I think of it.
