Well the kids have been so upset that i sold the last one that I had to make up another golf ball thrower. The mortar base and fittings runs 60 pounds and is bored for golf balls. The touchhole has inserts for priming powder, fuze and a special adapter for the air compressor. I run the hose out the garage and the kids shoot balls all over with air pressure, like a jumbo Daisy! I still have to forge the trunnion seats and blacken the iron ware but it's ready to go. Fire in the hole... Attachments:

Do you shoot them over the watertower?
Now that that project is finished, anytime soon you wish to start building my .54 german rifle I think my gizzards would be so tickled they just may rub each other?

Depending on air pressure compressed air will go over 50 yards. I have no idea how far you could shoot a golf ball with powder as on a full charge of 1 OZ of powder you either cant see them or the come apart in the air. Cement projectiles will go 1/4 mile on the airport runway, but when they hit they were taking chunks out of the blacktop so we can't shoot those anymore.

Back to the Squirrel Rifle question I've thought a .36 cal would make a nice Squrrel and Varmint rifle.
Course if you went .32 cal, can't you use cheap buckshot? Ought to shoot cheaper than a rimfire.

A 32 will take a 310 ball and some buckshot might mike out at that, but cheap??? I can cast balls of old sewer lead for a lot less than what buckshot costs. Bill shoots a 32 and PROVED that they will hold up shooting to 100 yards. I prefered a 40 when that was legal for deer as I could load up or down and use it al year roun. I also thought 40 was the smalles that worked well for 100 yard target work. As to 36, my wife had one and liked it but I never got the accuracy from a 36 that i got from 32 or a 40, i don't know why. any of these with a light powder charge is ideal for small game and 36 and 40 are also ggod for coyote at closer range.
