A good gun for reduced loads, regular shells are lible to kick your face off, but maybe if your wired enouff the gun will fit you?

bounce, i am under the impression that with the gass system that shotgun uses (it is a benelie on the inside) that it should be a real puppy to shoot.

I remember when Bounce bought his Franchi. He was very proud of it. Then we had a trap shoot. Bounce came back from the stations and had a cherry on his cheek the size of a half dollar. Then he went back up for another round and when he came back that time the cherry was more of a plum. ;D I tried the gun out just to see how bad it was and man let me tell you. That Gun Was Abusive.

Bill, was that model the gas system model as the 712 or was it the inertia model ? my understanding of the 712 is it is a benelli on the inside. i do not want to get a shotgun that will hammer me. i had another guy on another forum tell me his old model was like what you and bounce desribed in terms of felt recoil, it was a Franchi Al48. i need to figure this out in th enext 24 hrs if there is an issue and i would apreciate any insight. so is the gas system model 712 a shoulder thumper?

I can't say forsure my self jimh, mine was the Al48 I think, but it was the fit more than the kick.

as i researched there were two models of the al48, one with the long throw action where it cyled the barrel during the ejection. the 712 uses the same rotating bolt head design and gas opporating system as the Benelli. however i have not shot a Benelli so that tells me squat. sometimes guns get me like woman, i see the looks and forget to find out about the function untill it's too late!

Everybody would be running around with ugly guns. Nice to take it for a test drive before buying. Same thing I told the wife while dating.

Is there any way that you can shoot the gun before buying it? I know the old Franchi autoloaders that functioned like the Browning A-5 kicked liked a mule. I had one. Also, like the two A-5s that I had, it was prone to jamming. I would think if it is a gas-operated gun that it shouldn't have all that bad of a kick.

Maybe that why guns store are not allowed to serve beer. Everybody would be running around with ugly guns. Well the owner would think it's cute ;D Jimh, I wouldn't worry about it too much. How often do you go out and shoot 100 rounds at once ---- every few years?

well i solicated feed back from actual users of a 712 asking about the performance of the model and i'm comfortable in takeing a chance on it. my beretta is a similar design and is ok with me and that has the lighter composite stock. this gun has a wood stock but still only 7lbs and i think it will be alright. in addition this will be for my light field loads anyway. if i'm useing heavy loads like for ducks and what not then the composite gun is the one going to the blind anyway. however you guys (bounce and bill) reserve the right to do a inmyface "We told you so!" should i live to regret the trade. ;D

Bounce had the model that was recoil operated. IF the 712 is gas operated then it should not be as bad. ;D ;D ;D Franchi's have always been known at guns that kick but then they didn't make them in trap guns either. ;D Its a hunting gun and made to carry well.
