Well I have never made it a secret that I'm not fond of autloading shotguns. Never likes A5's or Remingtons. But the closest I ever came to being tempted was a little Franchi 20 ga.

I agree with you re. the A-5s, but not the Remingtons, at least not the gas-operated ones. Re. the Franchi 20-ga autoloader. I had one of those - the A-5 knockoff variety - and it was about as sweet handling a gun as you'll ever want to carry. I loved it but, alas, like the 2 A-5s I had before it, it was more often than not a single-shot. Try as I might I could never seem to get the problem corrected, so I traded it off. After that I swore I'd never own another A-5 or anything else with the same operating system.

I don't like the long forarms on the autos.
I wish a company made a shotgun with a 2 shell limit + 1

well my shotgun came in today and i picked it up and brought it home. i will take it out for a test spin tomorrow morning and shoot it and the beretta urika 2 for a side by side comparison. looks nice, and feels nice but i will need to get the stock shortened for my verticaly challenged size. (however it will fit my oldest son who is 3" taller than me like a glove)

just got back from the range, gun functioned just fine, no shoulder issues at all. i do need to get the stock cut back a tad and i want to try another set of the shims to get a tad more drop in the stock as i am seeing too much rib. i do realize though until i ge tthe stock cut back for me i may be wasting my time with that but i'll redo if need be later.

Am I reading you corectly when I think the gun is only slightly improved over the AL48 The Al48 did not give me shoulder isues either. But any improvement on a AL 48 would be a major improvment when it came to kicking your cheek.

bounce i had no issue with my cheek being slapped at all. Red this gun (and my beretta) have shims to use to adjust the drop in the stock so you can adjust the gun to fit the individual shooter. it's a nice feature to have and by doing that to both my guns i can have them shooting the same way no matter which one i pick up to use that day. it would be a waste not to take advantage of it. best thing these shotgun mfr's started doing for the consumer if you ask me. second only to them going to screw in chokes 30 yrs ago.

went to the range today with the 2 younger midgets. tonight they had a sporting clays deal set up and i have never shot them before, much less have my kids. it was humbling to say the least. my youngest was only shooting a single shot 20 ga so he did not participate in the sporting clays, after my middle son and i embarresed ourselves on the sporting clays i then took my youngest to the singles trap range and let him have at it. he wasn't any better (thank god ) so then my middle son and i went and did a round at the singles trap range. the middle guy hit 11/25 ;D i was excited for him. he shot my berreta which has the shorter LOP and i shot the Franchi. i ended up going 21/25 ;D not too bad for me. i would like to have gone back to the sporting clays line again but time was running out.

Kick is subjective and build and muscle structure have a lot to do with it as does gun fit. I thought the AL 48 was heavy but it didn't whack my cheek as i have a thin face and long arms. The gas operated guns have somewhat less recoil but you really have to shoot one to know. I woulod guess if you can get along with a M77 &mm Mag the Franchi should be ok for you.
