Here's one you've never heard before: Ever have a hose clamp break??? I'm driving home and stop by the drug store, pull into the parking lot and everything is still fine. All of a sudden the engine starts knocking and lundging and the temp gauge and check engine light came on. So I pulled into a parking spot and shut the engine off as fast as I could. I realize there is no antifreeze. I get looking around and notice the lower hose is not connected anymore (pouring all the coolant out at once time). And the damn clamp is broke !!! So I have to walk to the store and buy another clamp and coolant. Took care of that problem. Then I unhooked the battery to get the engine light off. Well that didn't work so I'm hoping there isn't any other engine trouble. I can't believe that.

sure hope you didn't do any permament damage to that engine. it may go off on its own after a while. good luck.

I called the Ford dealer and they said they've never heard of that problem before. Autozone didn't either last night.
Anyway, you apparently have to unhook the battery for up to 20 minutes to get the light off. So I did that and it worked.
And yeah, hopefully I won't have any engine damage.

I'm glad you didn't get stranded out in the woods or somewhere, Red. Jim has a point- what happened to the PBR (lack of) luck? Might be a smart idea to carry an extra hose clamp on your tool box in the car.

Good to hear your in good Shape Red. Never had a clamp break, but have blown hoses...
My S-10 has been down for almost 2 weeks, starter went out and I was having trouble getting it out. My dad & brother came over this afternoon and we finally got it changed. Like my brother said"Those damed engineers should have to work on them 4 weeks per year before they go back to the drawing board". "They then would have a better idea of what their doing" Jerry was a Service Manager in a Chevy dealership for 10 yrs. He quit that to drive truck for Barr Nunn.

It was most likely one of those cheap a$$ galvanized clamps... For what you pay for a vehicle today you'd think they could spring for some decent stainless steel hose clamps. Yeah Red, this was really a good luck story for you. It's a wonder it didn't break when you were doing donuts down the interstate a few weeks back... This could be a sign. Who knows, maybe the next gun you buy will be trouble free... ;D ;D

It was most likely one of those cheap a$$ galvanized clamps... Yeah, well I changed the hoses and antifreeze last month. I thought I'd save a dollar on the cheaper clamp with Khoeler (sp) Should of got the Victor/Bell. Of course when I bought the replacement the other day, I bought the cheap one again. I figure if there's still 3 more of the POS ones, there might as well be a fourth again ;D

;D ;D Now I see. Not a change of luck at all. Just a result of your ch....errr....mmmm......thriftyness.. ;D ;D And with you buying another "piece of crap" clamp to replace the broken one we're certain to hear of future coolant draining at much more inopportune times. There is a theory that says there is no such thing as an accident, just poor planning. Red, you may be the poster child for proving the truth of that theory.... ;D ;D

Thriftyness..... Is that where you save a buck 20 on a cheap ass clamp, and then lose 18 bucks worth of anti freeze when the cheap ass clamp goes? Hell, no wonder he can't afford to spend a decent buck on ammo! He spent it all bein thrifty!

Now, Red, if you were genuinely thrifty, you'd get your water out of the tap. It costs a lot less than designer water, and works just as well. Hmmm, now what can I come up with for a third sentence?
