I went and looked at a new ATV today. A Kawasaki 750 4X4 Brute Force. I also looked at the Brute Force 650 4X4I which is the same ATV but with a smaller engine. Man either one of these ATV's would be awsome and has room enough I could even teach the dog to ride on the back with me. Has anyone else looked at one of these yet. Either one would be awful nice. I would save enough by buying the 650 that I would be able to buy a ATV trailer that loads from the rear or the side so am thinking that that might be the way to go. ;D

750 cc ATV's are just like Earschplitzenloudenboomer Super Duper Magnums, overkill...at least to me.... Why not buy a 400-450 cc model and save enough for the trailer and a new rifle...

;D Well I could but we sell Kawsaki's and I get a discount and they don't make a 450/400 but a 360 which I think from past experiance is kind of enimic. Especially at 14,000 ft altitude at which I go ridding. On top of the Eisenhauer tunnel to be exact. ;D Some of the best brookie fishing you will find is in that area. My plan is to use it to get me way back into places that they let ATV's go but do it without a Truck. If Donnie comes to visit I will need it to haul the both of us up there.

Well I'll be that the 650 will haul as much as you can put on it, no matter how high you climb.....

Buy both and the one you hate, give to me. When I was in high school our dog rode on the back of our small honda motorcycle.

Found out they do make a 400 but its not one we carry Besides, I think the 650 rather than the 750 makes more sense for me. And probably runs cheaper too for that matter. No all I need to do is come up with a really good reason why I need one so I can convince my wife to let me have one.

Bill, the Bro-inlaw has that trailer of which you speak with both rear and side loading gates. he says it's the way to go with those atv's . sounds like you're planning on staying up there (Col.) a while. might as well do it right!

Well I will tell you what Dep-Don. IF my wife lets me get this ATV then you come on out and I will take you on a ride up there. You will be astounded byt the number of vehicles you will see up there. Hell I even seen a 66 ford mustang on the 14,000 ft level 2 years ago. This was above the Eisenhouer tunnel. After I came down I wondered just how he got up and then back down. I was doing some slidding comming down as it was all loose dirt and on a sharp decline and around hairpin turns designed for a ATV and not a ford Mustang. Must of been another way up and down I didn't know of. I don't know who told you you can't use a ATV in Colorado but they were wrong. Now on Federal Park area's you might be right. But who cares, there are enough places to go where you can that you don't need to go there.

The wife went with me to look at the 650 Brute Force tonight after I got off work. She got to looking at them and then next thing you know she is talking about which back rest she wants and what bags she wants. Sounds like the back end is going to be hers ;D I'm still not totally convinced I need one but am weighing out the uses and no use things. So far no use is ahead but the use things are kind of important to me. She likes the koplan rear bag with the padded back rest and elbow rests and cooler bags on the front arms. I'm not sure what I would put in the front though. Might just leave it alone. Plus I got to get a gun case for it too if I get it.

Oh I forgot Dep Don. There is a 3 % loss of horse power for every 1000' above sea level. Weird thing is, the brother in laws 500 Polaris sportsman I rode last time never did run out of HP but the engine did turn over a few more times than normal before it started. The other brother in laws 650 Yamaha was a brute. He just drove up the side of the mountain like it wasn't even there. The other nice thing is that the Brute force has a front differantial lock thats opperated by a lever on the handlebar that totally locks up the front diff, so NOTHING spins. Works great on those steep MOUNTIANS. ;D Seems to be no shortage of them.

One thing you might not have thought about is weight. when you (not if ) roll the ATV you got to be able to lift it back on it's wheels. My 360 if I remember right weights about 550 or 650 lbs. which is plenty to pick up on one end or the other. BTW even w/ a winch there are times you have to pick up the front or back and move it over. In the end your gonna get what you want just remember Gene Ebst's rule about off-roading. ;D

I don't remember Gene's rule Or is it Tits and Wheels rule ;D At this time I'm thinking that a winch might be a necessity. The other reason for a ATV of this size is for 2 up ridding. The wife has already lay claim to the rear half We sat on the 360 Praire and that is just a bit tight for us with the rear bags (Kolpin) were looking at. If you take an extra 5 gallons of gas and tent/sleeping bags and other necessitys along the 360 just don't make it. You also have to rememeber, I'm not the one that slid 80 yards sidways down the side of a hill on ice with a 8' drop off at the bottom and a pond at the bottom of the drop off. Most of my vehicles have wore out from old age rather than OH $hit ;D I did find a web forum on ATV's and it seems that the 650i is one of the best out there even if it dosn't have EFI. Only complaint I seen was by one guy that said he was going thru a tank of fuel in 45 miles. But then he was talking about wheelies and drags and other weird things I don't do. Other guys said they were getting about 85 miles from a tank trail ridding. Kind of lets you know where the throttle jockys are real quick. ;D
