www.rbprecision.com/id66.htmwww.olyarms.com/?page=m3_bipod&PHPSESSID=f3df8c65e9105d9834d18462adadd6aeyeah! I know they look like thier heavy, ugly, and seldom used and you won,t use them, when you get the chance anyway, now on many rifles Id agree, like on my BLR it would be useless, but if you tend to hunt from a location where shots over 250 yards or so are expected as the norm or you just like extra precise shot placement they are a useful accessory like camo ,you can hunt successfully without it, but its a nice option at times HOW MANY OF YOU GENTELMEN USE THEM! I SURE DO ON MY 340wby, Ive spend many hours totally camo covered under a blow-down in prime ELK country,in a prime escape route location with a bi-pod equiped 340wby while other hunters pushed game thur the canyons and drainages past my location, waiting for just the ELK I wanted, and that bi-pod has helped a good deal at times to place shots I probably would not have attemted without it. BTW Id get the swivel base tall style LIKE I CURRENTLY USE, so you can shoot accurately from a sitting possision in the field, as that the most comonly used, as these also retract to use as a prone bi-pod HBS25C HARRIS BIPOD 13.5-27" ROTATING $98.00

"I found that the point of impact was different when I used the bi-pod from when I didn't use it"
that may be true on some rifles , Ive seen it myself... (Id suspect a bedding problem, allowing the bi-pod to effect the barrel harmonics) but a differant YET CONSISTANT impact point would only mean you need to keep the bi-pod mounted, and shoot with it folded out of the way, or do you mean that its totally non-consistant as to impact oint with the bi-pod attached? my weatherby shoots consistantly wether the bi-pods extended or folded, off hand or with the bi-pod in use. but you can slide two sheets of type writer paper between the barrel and forearm all the way to within 3" of the recoil lug

I honestly have no desire to own one. When on the range, I use sandbags. When in the field, I use a backpack. When you big game hunt, you ought to have a backpack - knives
- straps
- 1st aid
- food/drink
- socks
- a couple sweatshirts for gun support or weather
Although a backpack seems awkward, you can get rock steady up to 400

I have a couple of them but very seldom use them. Don't ask me why but I just usualy don't get the chance or am in a position to use it. Mine are the standard styles

In the field I have had good success with bi-pods, shooting sticks and of course, backpacks. When antelope hunting (I do all of my hunting with specialty handguns) and sometime with deer and elk I use my bipods. Since, my barrels are free floated I have not had a POI change in my XP's. You can shoot groups under ten inches with a specialty handgun and a Harris Bi-pod-they are that good. I almost always have one on when hunting. In fact I used my Harris bi-pod to help take my buck I shot at 260 yards this past year.

For all you FFL holders out there - what makes a handgun a handgun?
Would it be illegal to take a rifle action, put a barrel on it that is just above the lenght limit, and have someone make a custom handgun stock like in XP's pictures???

There is a very good legal discussion about your question on another specialty pistol forum. I didn't know if it is okay to give out another website or not.

I bought a polecat mono- pod yesterday that I'm hopeing to enjoy and like this year for hunting. I have had both my nee's replaced and last year I missed deer hunting because I had just allso had a total right hip replaced. Well I still like walking with a cane, this polecat is made to do just that and can be extended to 65" for a rifle rest. look's to be just the ticket for me?? I will try to remeber to post how well it has worked for me once I really have used it. as a cane i have some and it is great for that, and will not give were ever you lock in the lenth.
