The last couple summers revolved around Debby's parents passing. There was little fishing and most of the time was spent with them. I am glad we could be there for them like they were for us for a lot of years. This year the project was tearing down the old 2-1/2 car garage built in about 1935, slab removal, cutting down 7 trees (some 80' tall), excavating for and pouring a new slab for the 30' x 40' new garage. The weather this summer with the late spring and constant(so it seems) rain has delayed this project that I had thought would maybe be done by the end of June. Here it is the first week of August and it is still not done. In the last few days it went from being just a slab to this. The metal is being ordered as well as the garage doors. There is a lot of additional concrete work and landscaping yet to do once the building is up. At least it is this far. Maybe by the end of August...... Attachments:

At least it's making progress. Hopefully it's one of those things that come together quickly once the hardest part is done.

It will house my boat, camper, truck, and 1 car. The floor is hydronic heated and I will put in a couple of gas heaters to make it warmer in the winter if needed. There is also a 11' x 30' wood workshop in the left side as looking at the picture. I still have the insulation and flashing to do on the slab before the landscaping can be completed. With no apron to get into the garage even once the construction is complete I can't drive anything in it until that is done. I should be able to clear out one of the two storage units I had to rent to put all of the stuff from the old garage in to make room for this. I had hoped to be able to start roughing in the electric this weekend but I am sure I will be able to find something else to do instead!

Well the steel is on and the garage doors installed. Today the concrete gets poured (3 trucks worth). While I won't be able to drive on it for a week at least it is done before it rains some more. Attachments:

This is what it looks like completely done.....on the outside anyway. Had the foamers in last week and they sprayed the entire garage with foam insulation. I had the wiring roughed in before they came so now it is time to install all of the outlets and switches. The cable guy comes this week to add a cable drop in the workroom. Once the electrical is all done I can get the blessing of the building inspector and start to put up the walls. I am using reclaimed lumber from the old garage for my workroom. I figured out I needed to purchase a planer too. Shucks. Attachments:

Putting up the workshop walls. I salvaged tongue and groove boards from the old garage, ran them thru the planer and a couple of coats of varnish later this is what it looks like. Attachments:
