I sent a deposit to a breeder in Seattle, WA who has a breeding planned late this year. These dogs are of the UK bloodline of field bred springers. I am 3rd in line for a female from that litter and possibly 4th depending if the breeder plans on keeping a female. Not a cheap deposit but is refundable. I made contact with another breeder in west central Wisconsin and have a reservation for a pup from his fall litter. I spoke with him this morning and we are #1 for a female from that litter. What is neat is that this breeder has pups from the same bloodline as Panda's mom had. Price is the same from both so if I can get what I am looking for from the WI breeder I will take that one. I had already researched the cost of a round trip flight to Seattle to pick up the pup there probably in March. Driving a couple hours would be much more preferable than taking a couple days to go to Washington and back.

It appears that while I may be 3rd or 4th on the listing with the Seattle breeder, I am first on the list for a black/white female with the Wisconsin litter. Digging a little deeper in the bloodlines I am finding that this breeder's female shares some of Panda's bloodlines from the dam side. Awesome!

Sounds like you can stay local, have top pick, and have emotional ties to the dog in WI

The litter in Seattle was born on Friday......all 5 were males. Wisconsin breeder is waiting for spring heat cycle March - May. Guess if I get a new pup it won't be hunting until 2016.

Well that's too bad
Are you interested in a male or are they all spoken for?

Red, I have a preference for females. I just like the temperament they have, tend to bond more towards male owners, and don't have some of the drawback males have. I also have the ability to breed them and get some pups.

The Wisconsin breeder's female has yet to come into heat. Then came a "dark horse" in the puppy race. The breeder we got Gypsy from in Pennsylvania (Springer of the Woods) managed to get all the tests done on their female Dolly and bred her in March. If the breeding took that would be birth date of late April. We have pick of the litter female. We are keeping our fingers crossed. It would be Dolly's first litter. The male used for the breeding was from the same pairings that produced Gypsy although is 2 years older than Gypsy.
We are still top on the list for the WI breeder and also still on the list for the Seattle breeder's next litter although our female pick didn't get any better with the last litter being all males.

Well, the female that was due the end of April got a uterine infection and had to have an emergency hysterectomy.
CRAP! There were three pups but only about half way there.
THEN - that breeder found a litter with 3 available females in eastern Pennsylania. (Fleetwood)
SO - I took a good look at the pedigree and the 4 of us are going the 26th to pick out our pup.
The breeder wants pick of the litter female so we will decide over what is left.

Things are getting closer. Readying the camper for the 1200 mile round trip. We will stay overnight in Ohio on the way there and in Indiana on the way back. We will take our time. Bringing some Johnsonville stuff and cheese. We will be staying in the people's driveway we got Gypsy from so it will be our camping fee. Looks like we will be going to a local auction on Saturday too.
I also picked a name. Koda - it means friend in Sioux!

Last Thursday we started the 1250 mile round trip. Drove thru central Indiana and Ohio on the way there camping Thursday night. Arrived in Linesville PA on Friday, auction Saturday, and picked up the pups on Sunday. Monday was a straight shot back home because Debby bought a sewing cabinet that had to be in the bed for the return trip. Koda rode very well, no throwing up and no fussing after we took her out of the kennel. She rode on the back seat just fine. Home was interesting as she did not quite know what the cat was. She decided to take the high ground to survey the situation. Gypsy wasn't too keen on the pup but is coming around. Attachments:
