Here are some more: the four littel scratches on the 2nd from the bottom picture are the only areas of damage at all other than a couple of ping marks on the dovetail blank itself. We are going to move this one if someone is interested let me know. It is a nice old collectable piece. With vintage scope in near perfect condition. Make a nice 30-06 hunting gun also. I hope I looks this good at 60 years old.

Nice looking rifle. Those Buehler adjustable mounts are a real piece of precision work.

I could actually see the scope move on target with the mounts so they do really work well and seem to have smaller adjustments that the internal scope click on most modern rifle scopes. I had only seen them once before on an older Weatherby rifle in 257 weatherby mag.
The original finish was a little shinier but I think a coat of wax or two will brighten/shine it up.He did a good job on it and we are going to pick him up another project gun at the 1500 gun show in Indy on the weekend of the 23. I keep looking at a stevens favorite. The action is I believe smoother than my model 700.
I told him not to wax it up for a little while and let the oil finish smell retreat a bit. He will carry it to the indy 1500 and I am going to take the savage 340 .222 and see if we can swap em around a bit for something we will use more.
Maybe gun broker in the end for both of them. OR i will just keep em for myself. I just have to find the right guy for the both of them. High powered rifles are not deer legal in Indiana so the demand is limited.

i inherited one of these Model 721 Remingtons myself in caliber 30-06 it was my God fathers /Uncle he bought it new in 1948 it has weaver mounts on it with a Bushnell banner 4x scope , i plan on upgrading the stock either a refinish or anew stock along with a more modern style scope, this one has no recoil pad just a butt plate length of pull is short compared to my other rifles so i'll have to adjust that other than that its one good shooter , i love it , it has its niche in my collection of Remington guns

The 1948 version is one with the serial number covered up by the stock. It is also the first year production. I sold this one off.
WE already have a a-bolt medallion, and rem 700 in 30-06. I asked 400 and got 350 for the rifle. The new owner is very happy and dad pocketed 250 in the process. SO dad is very happy.
If we could used 30-06 in Indiana for deer I would have kept it for myself but there is nothing for me to hunt in Indiana with a 30-06 except coyotes.
Dad still wants to sell the savage 340 e in 222 but no one seems to want it.

That's a shame about the 222- that is one of the best varmint cartridges ever marketed. I've seen quite a few 222's over the years- never saw one that wouldn't shoot.

I have a 222 in rem 700 and dad is upgrading to higher quality rifles. If I did not have a better one already I would have just added it to my collection. Dad wants a 223 or 243 in a browning a-bolt or pre 64 model 70.
Nothing wrong with the rifle just unwanted like a TOY on the island of misfit toys. Cheap mil 223 ammo killed the triple deuce.
I am going to take it to the Indy 1500 gun show and see what happens and if i can;t sell it I am going to give him his 125 dollars for it and keep myself. I remember him buying it when i was about ten for 125 dollars and the same guy had a 22 mag anshautz for the same price. Dad's freind and fox hunting buddy had a 222 rem 788 so dad got the 222. I told him to buy me the annie and I would pay him back. Sure wish he would have. At 10 125 dollars would have been a fortune,

JimH Sorry;
next time maybe I will put a for sale or something in the header. We picked it and the poly tech AK folder up for 300 and I gave up 200 for the poly tech. I looked on G-broker and there are lots of 721's available and few sell in 30-06 or 270 even with scope and in good shape. The only ones that sold were in the 300 dollar range so I started asking 400 locally and it sold at 350 fairly quick. I had it advertised for 5days before a I'll take it.
Now the savage 340 has been for sale twice once at 365 and not a 265 with good pic's and all and not a single person has even asked a question. If it was a glock/taticool 10-22 or shot 7.62 by something it would have been gone. Seems the mil rifles sell the cheap marlin 22 rifles sell and polomer handguns and pre -2 smiths and colt revolvers.
I was worried about the ejector as they can't been purchased new andd have to be replaced with a sako one at cost with gunsmith of more than the rifle.
