It is time to kill off the tree rats. Weather will be windy and 45 degrees. Should let us get in on them without spooking them away. The shots will be fairly close as they have not been hunted yet.
Dad will be using my old 10-22 from the 1980's (I left it at the homestead and I did not know he has been using it for 12 years now). I will be using my new model 39a and if we get to the old farm house with the English walnut trees the model 47 winchester.
We will keep the big old 10-22 target at home. If we wanted to set in the truck and shoot them out the window then it would be the preferred route.

I can't do wind; then again though you said you were a sitter.
So long as the leaves are on the trees, I don't sit...ever! So I need to be able to see and hear them moving around. If it's calling for more than 10mph, I stay home.

I did see tree rats. I did not get any shots and RED was right, Way to windy 25 MPH we hunting two woods about an hour each time and in one woods (Deep) saw nothing, The second one was open with mowed areas and I saw 4 nice ones but they saw me first and off to the den.
I will try again on a nicer day started at 9:30 am home at noon. Saw a little deer sign on a field edge. Nothing big but tracks heading to the creek. No rubs or scrapes yet.

Looks like next tuesday morning is the next time not rain and sunny no wind.
I am going to scout deer areas more than tree rat hunt but lots of acorn areas to cover. One White oak tree has no acorns this year and normally it always produces,
I will be around the old barn area with the english walnuts for sure.
