Well as I have reported on and off I have seen jackrabbits between me and Bloomfield to the east of me. Bounce always asks "Was it a whitetail or a blacktail?" I always answer "I don't know I never see it long enough.".Well the other night while working @ the "wind farm" I chased one up the road w/ my spotlight..... And Bounce it was a big WHITETAIL!!!!!

That's great news DD as They are the king of all jacks and the least of, even back in the good hunting days the rate was probibly 20 to 1. So if you shot 60 per night 57 would be blacktails and 3 would be whitetails but they were twice to three times as big and jump twice as high when shot with a .22 and sometimes with a shotgun to like 6 feet straight up. It made it all more fun. Collecting money at the mink farm was fun too.

Thats the way Whitetails are, I accualy think they pair up for life? or a .22 in the head. Had years of seeing them that way in the 50's & 60's over at dads south farm. In some ways they are the mule deer of rabbits as to whitetail deer are to blacktailed rabbits.

The landowner there didn't know the Jacks were back. He was tickled that they were coming back.

Just about hit a BIG Jack rabbit coming home by Zieglers just east of Center, where I first saw one a year ago or so. It was a Whitetailed Jack also. That would be about 6-7 miles southwest of the Wind Farm. I think we're seeing a "come back" of Jacks!!!!!
