Twomoons would be the guy to consult here.... That looks like a Schuetzen (sp?) type target rifle- with the big carved cheekpiece for offhand shooting. Schuetzen rifles were used for 200 yard (usually) offhand matches in the late 1800's. I'm sure it has some value, but I'm not qualified to quote a figure.

As true it may be a Schuetzen, one to can not rule our the name given hear as Parlor Rifle ether just yet, This time I see the fluted barrel that did not appear the 1st time I looked. The fluts indecate to me a posible norewegin maker may be in the mix? Just what does that lever catch thing under the barrel do? and what cal. and action, Rim fire, Pin fire, center fire? And by the way how is the bore?

can't find a name anywhere on it. that latch thingy down from the muzzle is a breach type device. i beleive you load it from there. the hammer is not in the picture, it was not on the gun. they insist they have it but it is off right now. there is a small piece chipped from the stock on the right side.

OK then it is a parlor gun for shure, Is it catrige or muzzel loader? and is their a number on the bottom side of the barrel just in front of the fore stock? What calliber do you think it is? If muzzel loader it maybe fron .177 , 22 to 25 cal. most likely.

If it is a muzzel loader of .177 this is how you shoot it, ram a .177 pelet down the tube, then place a #11 cap on the niple with a cap loader that fits in the opening, go to your parlor and shoot mice or anything you want to shoot in your parlor. if larger perhaps a very small charge??? and I do mean small. Worth? what ever you want to pay from $150.00 to $600 but $250 would sound about right to me if buying

By the way I do have one, 1871 parlor gun, #3 and I have seen #1 each had it's differants but I think both came out of MO. this one is some what like #1 with the fluteing on the barrel but this stock is differant and I would guess made at least 10 years later? just guessing though.

Get it bought yet jim? It's something you just never realy see around hear and fun too. I have shot pigens with mine in buldings at around 15 ft it will get the job done most times but mice would be it's regular size game lol. I do belive $600 or $700 would be tops in the market, A friend that had #1 died and his wife had it for sale for quite a while at $700 and she knows gun peaple well so 700 was plenty high but it is gone now and I don't know but my guess is it went in the 500 area? to one of her husbuns friends most likely T/M's has never confessed to it though lol.

they want 350.00 - 700.00 for it. that's what they have been told to look for. i told them if no one made a decent offer and they were going to sell it cheap to someone if they would let me know and they agreed.

Just for your INFO jim, My 1871 is in the style more like a Buffalo rifle and I think with out checking an 1-1/4 inch dia. barrel. The one your looking at is a Schuetzen style. Real Schuetzen guns of that time are usealy in the thousands to day so maybe a few more $ is ok?? but it is still a bb gun just fancy.
