Ok, now all we have to do is figure out a date!
What kind of dates are we looking for and how many days of hunting?

My recomendation would be to start on a Monday or Tuesday and go until friday. I don't know how that works out for our hosts or the members. So we need input from everyone who is thinking about going. Me, I don't care --- just tell when to take off work This does a few things 1. Vacation time is kept to a week because we're using the weekend for traveling. For the close members, we're looking at a days drive SOLID. For Bubba it's going to take 2-3 days depending if he can sit in a car for 12 hours a day. 2. Maybe someone gets hung up for another night due to car trouble or something stupid at home. If they're a day or two late, not a big deal. They can still hunt a couple days with the main group and then maybe another day by themselves or just with one of our hosts if available. Maybye someone gets there a day early and walks arounds for alittle bit. Afterall, this is public land... 3. Spring weather is unpredictable. Maybe a day is a washout with pouring rain. Besides, we traveled how far? We might as well get our money's worth. Even if the nebraska boys have to work, by the end of the hunt we're going to be somewhat familiar with the land and we could get by without them if it came down to it. Perhaps start the hunt Monday/Tuesday April 20th/21st or Monday/Tuesday April 27th/28th That's my idea What's everyone else think? Is there a date that someone can not go - either the hosts or the members? That's probably a logical first step. We may not be able to work around it, but we'll sure try.

I'm pretty flexable......as long as theres no homicides, rapes, or something like that. Again I'll stress DO NOT GET A STATE OF NEBRASKA PERMIT!! We will be hunting on the Reservation and a State permit is no good so you would be wasting your money..

GREAT! ... I can do a week ... like Red said, it will take me 3 days travel time... that's driving 12 hrs a day and sleeping 8 or so. I figured it's about 1400 miles or so... I'll be dead tired when I get there so a place to park my big butt for 8 or so hours would be great. Can I or should I bring my ATV? It makes a big difference in gas mileage with my truck.. I get 18 to 20 on the road WITHOUT my trailer but 10 to 12 with it. Is there a way I can get drove out to a spot/blind where I can hunt or will I have to bring my ATV to get there? Oh and does the Reservation allow the use of ATV for us old cripples?
DD... I understand that we don't need a "Turkey License" but do we need a Nebraska "hunting license" and if so, can we buy them "over the counter"? Then I could be missing something completely. Could you go over the licensing requirements one more time for us dummys... thanks....

Do not buy any licens of any kind untill your hear and see DD he will have them or send you to them from the Res. This is not state public land it is privite tribal land and their is a lot of it. but they have there own licenes and their own game warden so you just come and buy it hear.

Maybe to be clear, The state of Nebraska has nothing to do with this hunt at all.

What Bounce said. Everything is OTC on the Rez. And I have been appointed as a check station for a number of years for both deer and turkey, so I'll have the transport tags for your bagged birds. BTW I believe you can bag three toms each. Of course you have to buy a permit for each bird, but at least you can take three birds home. The bigger ones will weigh over twenty pounds each. So you could leave with as much meat as a small boned out deer.

Good. Dry ice will freeze those boned out turkey breasts and whole leg quarters solid for a week. I'm not sure about a whole bird (roaster style or with feathers on in a mounting situation). Perhaps one of you guys might extra room in your freezer at home that could get a whole bird frozen to start with and then we use the dry ice to keep it that way???
As far as scheduales go for DD, Bounce, and TM One of you mentioned that you had a muzzleloader event sometime in the Spring. Is that something you plan on attending and do you know what the approx date for that would be?
It seems like Bubba and I are open for any dates and can work around your availability. It sounds like there are some other members who are interested in knowing the dates and then making a decision.

Just for guys like me I think you can even make a last minnet decision for comeing to this hunt if a camp is set up. but it is nice to know and plan a little. I don't have a calinder handy but the spring muzzel loading shoot is the last full weekend in april I belive. Yes T/M's & I would be there and DD most likely working or on call.

That would be the 25th and 26 then.
Would trying to get in sunday evening the 19th, starting the hunt on the 20th thru 23rd, and leaving the morning of Friday the 24th --- does that give you guys time to do what you need to do for that???

Does me but better let T/M's answer this 1st. I think DD & I can work around anything that T/M's is open for as his time allways seems the tightest to me and I know you all would want to spend time with him allso.
