Sorry that I just read this thread again, Red. Those hogs seem "a bit huge" to me, lol. We have several types of hogs overhere in Indonesia. In Sumatera or Kalimantan or Irian Jaya island (3 biggest islands in Indonesia) there are hogs that weigh up to 400 lbs or more (about 200 kgs or more), but it's about luck to get them. If you are lucky, you can find big hogs - if not, you would just find the medium size ones. In my area (Java island), I should be very lucky if I can find a hog that weighs about 100kgs/220 lbs because most of the time I just got about 30 to 60 kgs. --- I do like the Russian boar (their appearance), though. Also that I would like to have experience to shoot them.
Btw, I am getting good with my bow now. When I have the chance next time, maybe I will shoot them some with rifle & some with bow.....But bow season and rifle season is different , right???

In the US? Normally the seasons are different but most states recognize hogs as they would varmints. So there are no seasons and no limits on public land. Some states don't even require any type of hunting permit; those that do, it's just your basic cheap permit. If you hunt a game ranch you can hunt worldwide game (african, stag, hog, deers, turkey, etc) without any permit because it's high fenced. So you can hunt for a day or so with a bow. If you know you're towards the end of the hunt, you can normally grab your rifle. The only negative I see with a bow is the fact that a wound is a kill for a lot of places. If a ranch owner says you can kill 2 hogs and you wound 2 two --- you're done hunting. Most on the forum here disagree with me but there's a bad hit and then there's a bad hit. Although it's more challenging with a bow, I'd be shooting a rifle because the margin of error is more.
