Well we just came back from the UMML Summer Shoot. A good time was had bey all and Bounce even showed up in time for pot luck dinner Saturday. We cooked Bear steak tips and veggies for the feed and they disappeared pretty good, even Bounce liked the bear.
The weather was real funny as I drove through showers going to the range and the tempreture for all 3 Days never got over 78 degrees. At night the temps dropped to as low as 46 degrees and since we set up with the stoves outside the sleeping bags sure felt good. I will E Mail some pictures to our fearless leader for posting. We didn't have a lot of shooters as there were about 10 local celebrations going in the 3 county area but even us old guys got out and shot, when I left I was either first or second for 25 yards and Don Clyde another old fart was in for the 50 yard line. This was some hard shooting as the wind blew every day and was switching constantly. You would brace for a shot and if the wind dropped you would just drop your shot below the target. Camp was really mowed nice but the wet weather this year brought out a plethora (S#!t load) of mosquito's. Tis morning I decided I was smelly enough and took a pan bath. About the time I got all the bug dope scrubbed off and started to shave the Mosquitos found me and I got so bit up before I could dope up again I am lumpy all over. Some of the guys once they sealed up the tent at night even took in a P bucket so they would n't have to let any bugs in. I tried that once but I was camping wiht my brother and he could't find the P bucket in the dark and used my dutch oven instead, the one I now use for lead smelting! (and for cooking bear at shoots?)
Now it's home and unload the rig, clean the gear and get ready for the next time. Next Shoot will be the Monthly Shoot last weekend in July. The range had camping both primitive and tin Tipi and you just need to bring water.
