I made up a portable reloading station on wheels to take to the range and camping and mounted an old Lyman combination hand/bench press on it. This old press has no options for priming and used a screw in priming adapter that id did not get with the press. Since I only intend to load a few cowboy calibers I thought i would just use an old Lee prime tool but... noo head for 30-30 or 45 Colt.
So I scrounged around in my junk and found a shell hoolder that I turned to work with both 30-30 based cases and 45 Colt 44-40 ect. The I found an old Lee sizing die body. I silver sldered the shell head hoolder to the die body and then took a chunk of 22 barrel and made a ram. I used a piece of 1/4 20 brass bolt for a primming ram and milled a slot in the ram body for a set screw. Thhe set screw goes through the main die body and rides in the groove milled in the ram and allows the ram to drop down just enough to put in a primer.
Now as the french say VIOLA (what does a big violin have to do with anything?) I can screw this die into the press and prime 45 Colt 44/38-40. 30-30, 38-55, and 32-40. The best part is that this thingy didn't cost anything, it was made from scrap. The bad news is that I figure this took 3 machine hours to make and I charge $22.00 an hour for machine use fo If YOU want one they will run $66 bucks!
DID I SAY FREE ?

;D Twomoons, I was reading your post thinking "Gee, a Lee hand priming tool costs 11$....and for another 10-12$ you can get the shellholder set for about every cartridge ever made". Sounds like a fun project, though.

That's Cool! But man do you work cheap? Machining around here would probably run $85-130 per hour.

That ain't nothing you ought to see what a Deputy gets paid here! Actualy that $22 bucks an hour is on an old fashioned 1949 South bend. If i had me one of those $20,000 cnc wonders i would have to charge a lot more to do the job in 1/2 the time.
