The problem with the centerfire replicas are they are so darn expensive to buy. They want $700-1000 for a revolver that can only handle cowboy loads.
With the convertibles, you're going to spend $200 for the gun (which I already have...) and 250 for the cylinder. So you're bascially saving a ton of money but with that comes a great inconvience.
A new or used blackhawk would probably be in order, but it's not as streamlined / eye appealing as the real things.

Taurus Gaucho.....a mere $520.00 list, for the blued model. I'd think around $425.00 street price.

The Movie gun was a K and R Conversion, The Taurus Gaucho will run you about $340 anywhere righht now. The Cimarron 1858 will run about $450 delivered. By all means get the 45 conversion cylinder if that's what you want. Remember that the R/B loads and a 255 bullet won't hit within 1 foot of each other at 25 yards and the 255's will probably torqu into the rifling and make it shooot off to the side as well. I shot a 44 russian 1860 conversion for a while and played with the loads. A 246 gr. rn lead bullet hit 2" high and dead center at 25 yards and grouped into about 2 1/2". A 44 round ball shoot 3" low and to the left at the same distance and a 200 grain bullet was high right. The idea of one gun and multi calibers is always interesting but unless you have adjustable sights it will only serve for rough work. I carry a handgun for small game and finishing shoots on large game and I need 2 1/2" groups minimum at 25 yards and I want them centered right over the top of the sights. A he!! of a lot of the old time cowboys must have thought the same as you look at the sights on the original guns. If all you want is to make noise and whang lead around the countryside it probably doesn't make much difference but if you have a purpose for the gun it had better shooot where it looks.

I haven't read many reviews but most have said the point of impact at 25 yards was identical. Sounds like I need to do more investigating. How is the quality of the Cimmaron brand? That's a lot cheaper than Uburti
