I saw that too.
It's somewhat suprising that a beagle has never won it because it's always one of the most popular breeds. Now just because it's popular, doesn't mean it's the best --- but you figure public opinion would influence it a lot.

My daughter sent me the same article. Attaboy Uno!!! I am not surprised that a beagle won out over a lot sissy, worthless poodles, pomeranians, and such. Of course I'll have to admit that am prejudiced towards beagles (is that political Red?) because they are my favorite dog - always have been and always will be.

Never have been to big on the fancy dog shows. There's a very big difference between a Bench Champion and a working dog. Most of the hunting dogs that hit the working class at those shows would be doing good to find thier food dish. And Yes I agree I am really fond of the Beagles, had two working hounds as a kid, and I could leave the gun home and enjoy the music and call it a great hunt.

Beagles with class... what will they think of next ... ... I watched him win that show and he sure is a good looking mutt ... I would like to own a long legged beagle some day but all my dogs have been the 10" variety. I don't think I've ever owned a beagle that was over 12" tall ... I like them little short dogs.. they can get under them briars and through things long legged dogs can't. Way to go Uno....
