HOLY CRAP!!! I've been paying $18/bag for diamond for 50 lbs and I decided to TRY Purina One, and it's $32.99 per 37.5 lb bag.
$.36/lb to .$89/lb. If it was any more, I'd just buy cheap hamburger to feed them.
It better be damned good for that money.

We feed Jack Nature's Blend ... $28.99 for a 20# bag... Little Boy has always gotten Iams Lamb Mini Chunks... $25 for 40# ... When I had all 7 beagles, I would go though a 40# bag a week ... I used to get it a a little discount from the old feed company here in town .. but they went out of business so I'm relagated to Walmart or Petsmart for my feed...
Jack's on a full grown dawg feed now... but that Nature's Blend Puppy feed is almost double the cost of the stuff he's eating now... You're right Jabba, it's almost cheeper to cook up a few pounds of cheap hamburger for him ...

jabba i pay a lot less than that. even the purina pro plan (only sold at pet stores) was a tad cheaper than that and i get it in a 42.5 lb bag. usualy we buy the purina one at the grocery store but that bag is around is a little smaller than the pro formula but it is cheaper. the only reason we but the upper one at times is we'll be out and need food and don't want to have to stop at yet another shopping center. i have nothing but praise for the purina one formula, my dof is fit and her coat shines. try Sams or Cosco if there's one near you.

Like I said... I normally feed Diamond Hi-Pro food at $18/50 lb bag. I have used it for years, and decided to try the Purina One based on the glowing reviews from people on here, like Bill.
It better be GOOD.

dag gum, if your pooch gets fat and it's hair all falls out bill and the rest of us are gonners. i swear though i have been very pleased. there is a radio disc jockey here in st. louis that has a web site where you log on to see his pooch and how well it's doing on purina. you can down load a 5.00 off coupon, i don't know if it is only for st. louis stores. i'll see if i can find it for ya.

It's all filler and junk but I don't know what else we are supposed to do. I also fed diamond for years. I guess what bothers me with all that junk they have tried to sell us since WW2 is when is the last time you saw a dog out grazing on grain or eating a carrott? It is all a market scam and we ate it right up.

I just checked an online deal called dogfooddirect.com and they have Eagle Pack, which I really liked at $ 41.95 for 40# bag and shipping is another $ 6 .

When my son had his dog at home I bought "Old Roy" from Walmart. Figured if it was good enough for Sam Waltons favorite fancy bird dog it should be fine for a Red Heeler.

That is about the only brand I will not buy = from what the vets have told me and problems I have had with one of my dogs on this stuff it is not good. Sam Walton was a salesmen and does a good job getting us to buy his product.

For the last 7 years I have fed Bil-Jac Select. It is not a cheap dog food but Panda does very well on it. She has food whenever she wants it and doesn't really gain much weight. Her weight varies between 38-41#. She gets a good dose of exercise every day and still carries on like a puppy. I guess the way I see it is that I have a lot of time and money invested in the dog and the last thing I want to do is go cheap on food. Besides, to us she is a member of the family. There are times we think she doesn't think she is a dog and then does something that just amazes us.
I like the Bil-Jac ingredients and process. It has a good protien level and she doesn't lack for energy....any time of the year.
