It looks like I'm in final negotiations for a yellow lab pup to try to fill the void after the loss of my Sarah... The guy has a whole litter of yellow's.... and they came from two blacks... go figure...
Anyway, I'll be talking to this guy again tomorrow... his price is a little expensive but the bloodlines are good and the dog looks like a champ... (webbed feet, black mouth and all) .. lol..
More news to come...

Oooooh, Bubba's going to be a daddy. Congratulations. You can use a little good fortune to brighten things up a bit. Things don't seem to have been going well lately. There's nothing like a new puppy to brighten ones life. I'm sure you two will bond nicely. Keep us posted. Best wishes.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new family member. If ya get a chance, post some snap-shots....

Hey Bill... when Sarah was a pup she had a fixation on my shoes... no matter what we gave her to chew on ... it was my shoes that took the blunt of her agressions... for some reason when she got a year or so old, she stopped ... cold turkey.... she didn't bother with my shoes any more... The problem was that she started on my wife's sneakers... LOL... until she died, she would steal Mrs. Bubba's sneakers and chew them to pieces.... it got so expensive that we had to put her sneakers on the top shelf of the bedroom closet to keep them out-o-reach and out-o-site... LOL... I'm hoping that chewing is not a Lab trait... but ... if you want to find a home for your pup, let me know... there's always room for another dog at the Bubba's House... ...

Best hunting dog my Dad ever had was named Jack. He was a 17" beagle. Won a lot of trials.
Have fun Bubba.

Bubba, I guess your going to have to stick with the one pup. Molly is finally slowing down on the chew everything in site thing. Or AT least I hope she has. She is loosing some of her puppy teeth so maybe its sore gums thats doing it.

A follow up on the chewing situation. Someone gave us a young French Poodle many years ago. When my wife, son and I would go out, the dog in anger or whatever passes for it would take one item that belonged to each of us and contained our scent, chew hell out of it and then leave it by the entrance door so we'd be certain to find it when we returned. I guess it was expressing its displeasure with us for leaving him behind. He pulled this little stunt several times, then we gave him his walking papers. French poodles can be mean spirited little critters. I would never have another one. Best wishes.

We had a standard poodle when I was a kid. Meanest SOB on the planet. Used to eat all the paper boys and got so none of them would get within a block of the house if the dog was out. Loved to hunt though and one day it got in a badger hole and we couldn't get it out. Wasn't the brightest brick on the block either for that mater. Anyway we figured good ridance and left. A couple miles down the road we spotted it following. Dad felt guilty and stopped and picked it up. Dang thing at a hole thru the garage door and that was the end of his stay. I remember the favorite time with that dog was when it needed a hair cut. Dad would put a harness on it and hang it from the rafters of the garage and then shave it. We all wanted him to leave the dog hanging there.

The dog I handled in Vietnam was the meanest, orneriest dog I ever had the pleasure to work with... he tore my big butt up a few times... he hated other dogs with a passion... I really couldn't take him in the back of a truck with other dogs unless he was muzzled.... and then he'd want to fight all the time.... one time I turned around and bent over to put some food in his bowl and he nailed me in the .... errrrrr... you get the idea... it took 12 stitches to close me up and I took the blunt of every joke in the world for at least a month... I still wouldn't have traded him for something pretty.... he was a great dog and could smell a vietcong 100 yards away.....

One thing puzzles me about the breeding element. My wife, Joan, got a female from the animal shelter and didn't know it was already pregnant. Shortly thereafter it dropped 5 kittens in her sewing room. They were cute critters but no two alike. One had reddish brown & white stripes, one was solid black. two were gray and white stripped, and one was marked almost like a skunk. She was rotten dispositioned when born, and I figured no one would want her so we kept her. Boy was that an ugly kitten, very unlike her litter mates. When she died 24 years later she was still rotten, but we grew to love her anyway. My point is, I always thought that whichever male got to the female first sired all the kittens. Apparently that's not true. I later learned from a breeder that several males can lay claim to part of the litter. Isn't that wierd? I still hate cats. The kittens just came along at a time when I was weak in the head. Best wishes.
