Well, I guess y'all are right... I think I'll start looking for a yellow or chocolate Lab or a Golden... Problem is, I have to be careful.. I don't one one with hip displacure in his/her linage...

I don't know how it is down there, but our dogs are exrayed for hip displasia and have to be certifiued as displaysia free. Do you have something similar to that? I imagine your reputable dog breeders would do that anyway. You might check into it. Best wishes.

Bubba, There is never a 100% guarantee that ANY dog will be displasia free. The odds, however are greatly decreased if the hips of both parents have been xrayed and proven to be good to excellent. (preferrably excellent) This cannot be done efectively until the animal is 1.5 years old. Most good breeders will have that info on hand for both the dog and the bitch at the time of conception. Also look for a guarantee for eyes and possibly a tractability guarantee.
