I went scouting for antelope today. I saw three what I think were trophies. I saw a lot of herds. The bucks were together and so were the does and young ones. But the big bucks were by themselves.

Sept, I believe. Since I am new to ND I am going to hunt SD this year. My residency will be effective in ND by next season.

I went south of where I live last thursday about 6 miles and spotted a heard of antalope does. Lots of young ones but didn't see a buck anywhere. The herd probably had 20 animals in it.

You know, I've been through Nebraska about 5 times (each way) in the last 10 years or so and I've never seen a single antalope in Nebraska.

IMO, you will see the most goats out West. The bucks have not gathered their harems yet, or so it seems to me. Spet 30 is the start of the season in SD.

There are actually a large number of antalope in Nebraska Red. We even have a hunting season on them but only in the western panhandle of the state. ;D Seems you missed a lot of Nebraska in your trips thru. Probably due to looking at in from the windshild on the interstate.

The most Antelope I have ever seen along the interstate were around Rollins Wy. They lay right down next to the interstate fence out there.

Very true Bill
We'd drive from St. Louis to Sidney in one day and then Sidney to...whereever...Yellowstone, Douglas, etc.
First antalope along the highways were normally at Cheyenne.

I like to take US 20 in Northern Nebraska, when I travel out that way, nice farm country to O'Neill, and then nice ranch country past that point. Still, I haven't been past Valentine on 20, so I can't say much about what lies past that worthy place. If you're in Valentine, you gotta eat at their finest restaurant, The Peppermill, fine beef, and a lot of it!

Drove to Rapid yesterday and it is all goat country. The goats seem to have been lined up along the highway waiting to see a parade. One large group after another with a good buck in each group. Then there were some smaller bucks by themselves. Then there was this monster all by himself about ten miles north of Bell Fourche. He may have had the biggest horns I'd seen in a long time. But his horns were not enough to win the fight for some group of does evidently. That part of the trip - looking at the goats was great. Stopped in at First Gun in Rapid and every thing I have been looking at that they have been advertising on the WEB were recently sold. (The gun parts wholesale dealer is Jack First not First Gun BTW)
