Jim, this is what you missed out on yesterday.
I hunted 3 hours in the blowing wind, freezing cold, and snow. I knew by the look in the parking lot, that rabbits were in abundance...and shots would be close. There was about half dozen rabbits on the ground that were blown in half and left.
At the end of 3 hours: I jumped 14 rabbits I fired 16 shots I killed 4 --- as I thought, half of them had to be amputated and only the legs were saved
It was just a crazy day. Things were so thick that 10 yards was a long shot. A lot of the rabbits you couldn't even shoot at because either they were long gone or I was hung up in brush all I could do was watch him run away.
Good day though

Round 2 came yesterday i jumped up close to a dozen rabbits, shot 15 times, and killed 3. They were getting up 10 yards ahead of me and in one hop they were gone. And this time Jim I'll tell you that I was at Busch yesterday (but in a nice little hidden spot others don't go to)

Oh it's tough hunting --- very fun and full of instictive shooting
You see him take one hop and he disappears. You don't even have time to get the gun to your shoulder and aim. Didn't help almost every single one ran to my right. It's a matter of turn, swing, get the gun somewhat on your shoulder, and shoot all in the same motion. You hope your improved choke pattern and high brass shells nicks him. If the brush is thin enough, shoot again if you can tell the path he took. Then you get over there as fast as you can and step on his head before he gets away.
Very fun because of the fast shooting. Very frustrating with the low percent shots.

cotton tail hunting around here has been great also. So far, I have been using .22 lr's and I tried a 256 Win Mag with cast bullets on a couple.
