Hey Jim I thought I'd pass this "amazing" information along. I was invited to go to Busch conservation area today for that area's opening day of rabbit season. I told the guy I'd rather sit at home than go. And I'll tell you why He said he got there about noon and he estimated between 300-400 people there RABBIT HUNTING. He said there was mass confusion everywhere. Dogs were lost from running deer. Just in general everyone was doing stupid crap. The conservation dept absoulutly ruined that place 4 years ago. Before then you could only hunt it jan 1 to feb 15 but only on weekdays. Jan 1 and MLK were the only two busy days. Now it's open on the weekends too and they slam those rabbits to the point there is none there. I went there a few years and won't go back again. I've got other better spots !!!

Rabbits everywhere, I shot two on the way to work Saturday. I don't think a whole lot of folks hunt them here. I've got a ton of places to "please come over and kill some". But I do feel your pain PBR and if you want to come up we will arrange a rabbit hunt for you, and DD will set up the camp and I will have Bounce come over and chase off all the rabbits. Since a Out of State license is only $75.00??? and your travel time shouldn't cost more than $300.oo this might be a good relaxing vacation for you.

We'll leave that in the "someday" catagory Missouri is fortunate enough to have good rabbit hunting on public land. It's almost as good as private land IMO. This particular piece of ground is VERY close to the city of St. Louis --- which is why it was crowded. People in missouri are very lazy. They drive by and see this huge 500 acre feild and think - wow, there's got to be a bunch of rabbits in it. Yeah, there probably are but good luck finding them there... If you're going to hunt the big fields you have to walk right by 90% of it and focus on 10% to have success. The trick to finding and killing a lot of rabbits (a lot of rabbits meaning 6 or so) is locating the fields 1/2 mile off the road that is 2-5 acres in size. Three or four passthroughs and you're off to the other field. Ussually you know when you're going to find rabbits because the brush suddenly changes a bit and you'll get up 2 or 3 quickly.

I tell you what, I'd of come back with a bunch of beagles...beagles that run deer though I could of found something to get upset about and make the news. Last time I was rabbit hunting at Busch was during a big snow. People ignored all the rules and 4-wheel driving on those old bunker service roads. Well I saw one guy drive in and I knew there was a huge fall down about 1/2 mile back. So I blocked the road and went hunting. Pissed that guy off something fierce because I refused to move. ;D
