Some states have summer squirrel season, my state of Missouri included. Hickory nuts are starting to be knawed on redardless of the heat. Limits can be taken in a matter of minutes during the morning.
For other states, September 1st is the opener.
Regardless, we are comming up on prime squirrel hunting in the next 2 months.

Red i have a ten year old that is just chomping at the bit to go out and cap him some squirrels. now that it is cooling down in the near future i'm ready to go out. heck i might go out one night this week after work for a couple hours. he starts back to school next week so it would be a nice end to summer.

I'm still in the morning mode with the heat and all. I won't go in the evening until late september unless there is a unusually cool day.
