Once again I have no real place to hunt so I have to do the whole public land on the weekend thing. Season starts this comming monday. I'm going to have a half day of work that thursday where I'll be able to hunt till about 10am. Then Saturday and Sunday Week two will only be sunday Week three I'll take a wed afternoon, all of thursday and friday off and run up near the Iowa state line and have 4 days of "me time" all by myself. So I'm looking at about 8 days of hunting this year. That's pretty much been my average the last couple years. Maybe this year, I'll kill one again Man, I hate those birds

I went opening day which was last Saturday - a total waste of time with all the rain and wind. I am not that big into spring turkey hunting anyway and so only hunt on the weekends so I won't have to take time off during the week. I'll probably go 3-4 more times unless something I'd rather do comes up. Our spring season lasts a little over a month - usually from mid-April through mid-May.

Red, i've lost all my spots i had to go to on my own however i have one spot that i can still go to but lately there's too much competition so i don't go. that being said, if i get a wild hair and take a day off it is a nice spot to go to during the week, if i were to do that i would rather have a partner in crime. bad thing is i'm trying to save my vacation for this summer. so long story short is, i'm at the mercy this year of folks bringing me along so i can't offer out to anyone, but if something comes up i'll give you a call.

I see you're busy on the first weekend. If that falls through, give me a PM and we might be able to work something out. My brother is trying to get his scheduale straight so he may bail on me.
Sunday May 4th If the old man is working that day, you can tag along with me to probably the Reform nucular plant.
But if you can go somewhere else --- by all means do that. The places I'm going the first couple of weeks are high pressure. Although there's a spot at reform which is about a mile back that looks amazing. It's the kind of spot where other people get to it about midmorning (including myself all the time). I'm going to get there at daylight and see what's going on. All my eggs are in that basket though

I actually hunt everyday... Haven't decided which tom to shoot yet. Sure wish they would leave my front yard and the cattle feed yard so it would be a little sporting!!!!!!

Haven't decided which tom to shoot yet. How about the very first bird that comes within 40 yards I went looking around yesterday and found a ton of birds. I don't think I've ever seen that many before while scouting around. I wanted to check out this hidden field I saw last year and as soon as I stepped in it 6 gobblers ran off. Then I got to far side of the field and 3 more ran off. Provided that hidden field doesn't see a whole lot of pressure mon, tue, wed - I think I can kill a bird thursday morning just by sitting tight.
