Right now I have 'bout 250 ta 300 turkeys wintering on me. W/ the big snow storm They are checking everywhere for food. We even have to stop on the road and wait for them to cross. So far they haven't been a pain in the ass and they are fun to watch!!! I took the tractor and blade out yesterday and drove in the corn field so they can get @ the corn by the time I quit they were following me like puppies. Is anyone else wintering any turkeys close by ?

For the last week or so I have had a Pheasant living in among them. He comes out of the trees w/ them and flys back into the pasture w/ them. I think either: A) he thinks he's a turkey. or B) he thinks theres safety in numbers. At any rate he's a blast to watch as he trys to chase turkeys away from ears of corn after they find them for him.

I flushed a big ol' gobbler in Western Maryland while deer hunting a while back. Scared the holy bejeebers out of me. I actually thought I was going to have the big one, my heart was pumping that rapidly. It was in a vast area of evergreens that apparently had been planted during the '30s depresion years. I stopped to have a smoke apparently right under him, and he decided to flush. Have you ever been right under a turkey when he lights out? Good heavens, what a racket, damn near died. Best wishes.

;D Oh, My, God! Cal, early in my turkey hunting days, I walked thru a pine grove in the dark (full dark) well before dawn, and flushed a turkey from the tree I was walking under..... I'd no clue he was there.... I jumped about 3 feet in the air. Was damn lucky I didn't fill my pants

Hello Jack,
Good, I'm glad this happens to other people as well. Now I don't feel like quite the oddball. Damn but they can kick up a racket! Best wishes.
