The bigger bullet would sabilize better after 500 yds and you could seat it deeper and use less powder, To much pressure is not good in seating I don't know were the pessure line is but know that their is one. Maybe with enough vegi spacer you can press a little harder??

Thinking about the seating pressure, My statement was true with tipical dust to grains powder the fine swiss and Goex that is avalible now just may take more pressure seating better as it truly is very uniform each and every one, Once again primers are the diferance between a group and a shotgun blast group

A lot of the guys are using Federal 215M primers for their black powder matches. I have access to those and the regular Fed 215 Primers so thats not a problem. If you need any just have D-Don pick some up when he is out here. Other problem I have is access to Swiss or High grade goex in 1.5 FG

Bill I had to work up loads for two 45-90's and 1 45-110 this last year and shot them out to 300 yards for testing. For lube I use 2 parts bear oil and 1 part bees wax and with Swiss I am getting between 15 and 18 shots before accuracy goes all to heck. I am not using a blow tube as if I shoot I go to SD and they clean after ever 5 shots the same as the military did. I was using only 78 grains of powder and a 535 Postell bullet in my 45-90 or more correctly 45- 2.4 Sharps. I used a wax wad and a dry felt wad for a filler to get the light compression that I needed and i don't use a drop tube, I put the case on my vibratory tumbler and settle the powder that way. My best 300 yard groups were in the 6" range and for fun we shot pumkings to over 300 yards and if you missed it was your fault! I do cast my bulets from one batch of a tin lead mix and I like 1-20 for the 535 and 1-40 for my hunting bulets in 405. You might want to measure the twist in your rifle as the older ones went 1-20 and the new ones are 1-18 for the hevier bullets. I personally couldn't shoot BPCR any more with the 45-90 as 20 shots is about all my shoulder will take with a full load although my 45-90 is a 10 lb hunting gun. The biggest thing you need are sights as the I tie's are crap for precise shooting. MVA's will run you the same as the rifle or so and the least expensive ones arte the I tie Soule's which I can get you for about $300 a set. If you just want to start I have a conversion of the i ties for about $75.00 for the work and this give yu repeatable windage and better elevation marking. This is a good enough unit to get you started.
