Well, it looks like Jay Gruden has finally bit the dust. Personally I don't know how much this will help the Redskins' plight. However, I do think if they hire a good coach to replace him, they might do better after a year or so. Look at Tampa Bay after hiring Bruce Ariens. It's a shame they can't fire Snyder.

Yeah, the old 'fire the coach ' syndrome, when what ya oughta do is fire the GM and the owner. . . . Apparently, they called Gruden in for a 5 AM meeting to tell him he was fired. What the heck was so vital they couldn't wait until a reasonable hour? Weird.

Around the rest of the league, the week started with the Packers going to Dallas and beating the Cowgirls. Maybe the biggest upset of the week was Indy beating KC. The Raiders beating the Bears surprised me, too. The rest of the games came out about as expected. In the NFC East, the Giants found out they aren't a good team yet, against the Vikings, and the Redskins lost, too. Monday night, San Fran beat the crap out of Cleveland. San Fran looks tough.

I too was surprised that San Fran beat Cleveland and particularly that Indy beat KC. After seeing Jacobi Brisette I don't believe the Colts really lost that much after loosing Andrew Luck. KC, for all as good as their offense is, doesn't seem to have that good a defense. At any rate they couldn't seem to stop Indy or be able to get to Brisette.
