I was channel surfing tonite and (luckily) checked CBS and saw a listing for a football at 8:30 between the Atlanta Legends and the Orlando Apollos of the AAF. I did a little checking and found out that AAF stands Alliance of American Football. There are 8 teams so far and (as I recall) they will play 8 regular season games, followed by playoffs, & a championship. Right now they are getting TV coverage by CBS, CBS-SN, and the NFL Network. I watched the one game televised here today and thought it was pretty good. Steve Spurrier (believe it or not) is Orlando's coach. I looked the AAF up on the Internet and found that there are some other big name head coaches too. I will watch the AAF games.

Here I thought you were going to say XFL
I've never heard of the AAF. Hopefully one of these new leagues stick and they make some money. These small sports leagues rarely make it past 3-4 seasons before folding.
Vince McMahon may have the best chance now. The original XFL was just a version of it's wrestling show. This time around, it appears to be very legit football. If they can add some edge that the NFL does not currently have, they have a chance.

I checked the TV listings thia morning to see what times and stations the AAF games were coing on today (there are usually 2: one in the afternoon and one in the evening). Nothing was shown. I skipped ahead to tomorrow and found the same thing: no AAF games. I said something to my wife who started checking around on the Internet. She found a blurb saying that the entire league, teams, & games shut down last Tuesday, apparently never to start back up. Wow that must be a record for short duration. It's a shame too because I really liked the AAF!

Apparently, the AAF went broke fast. I heard one report that the teams that were on the road had to pay for their own airline tickets home.
