Happy belated Christmas and New Years! I just got back from beautiful Charleston SC, Savannah GA, and Jekyll Island GA. The history there is incredible for someone who lives in the midwest and the food is out of this world if you don't mind $75-100 a person for dinner. The Charleston Grill in Charleston, Circa 1875 in Savannah, and Husk in both cities were stupid great. I enjoyed Charleston better. As our Uber driver said, "Ah Savannah - Charleston's younger, less attractive, less sophisticated sister"

Welcome back, Red. Charleston is a wonderful city to visit. As you said, lots of history and great food!

Other than New England, Charleston, SC is my favorite place to visit. Except for those gross boiled peanuts (yuck), the food there is absolutely outstanding. I've been twice and would love to go back. I want to see the Confederate submarine Hundley again on something other than a small TV screen. Also I would like to see the historic warships stored at the old navy yard again. Fort Sumter and the harbor tour are also great. It's just a great place!

I'm not sure I'd ever go back as I saw everything I wanted to see, but so glad we did see it once.
Fort Sumter was closed due to the shutdown so we did the harbor tour instead which took us right by the fort. There really was't much to the fort anyway and it walking around for an hour would have just driven the Mrs crazy anyway. Her favorite part was the Charleston Tea Plantation and I would highly recommend the 20 minute drive to it. It is the only tea "farm" in the United States. Angel Oak, a 500 year old oak tree, was a good quick stop along the way as was Low Tide Brewery.
My favorite part of the trip was the 2 nights we stayed in the 17Hundred90 Inn in Savannah. We stayed by ourselves overnight in one of the most haunted hotel rooms in the country. Not 20 minutes into our stay, the closet door began to shut on it's own. My flashlight was on the floor the next morning, we heard knocks coming from inside the room, the bathroom door rattled, and my emf detector went off on command for a good 30 seconds straight until the moment I touched my phone to get a picture. While not the first paranormal experience I have had while ghost hunting, it was the first time I had a haunted location all to myself all night.

Wow, Charleston also has a haunted house tour. We have not done it but that is the main reason my wife wants to go back.
