I had an easy hunt this past weekend. I am fortunate enough to hunt on a private 355 acre tree farm. We have a number of stands on feed plots. Saturday I got to the stand I chose at 3 PM. Got settled, figured nothing was going to happen for a while (sunset was about 5:45), so I started reading a book. Looked up about 3:30 and there's 2 does in the feed plot. I checked them out with binoculars - they were adults, but not real big - probably 1 1/2 year olds. I decided to pass on those 2, but I watched them for a while, then they both looked up at the far end of the field, acting nervous. After a few minutes, a larger doe came out. Since I am a meat hunter, she was just what I was looking for.
It was 4 pm when I shot her. Was able to drive a golf cart right up to her - no dragging at all. With the help of a friend, we got her skinned and quartered easily. I got home at 6:05 PM with a cooler full of meat. How's that for an easy hunt?

Wow, that almost took all the fun out of it!

That is way easier than my big buck. I shot a little too forward in the shoulder and it collapsed but was trying to crawl away. Because of the thick brush I couldn't shoot him again so I had to walk up to him. As soon as I got close he jumped up and took off running as best he could. I chased him another 100 yards shooting him a couple more times before he finally died. So I got to drag him 200 yards through a couple creeks.

Red your kill was more in line with what I used to have to do. Rarely did I ever get one close to my truck.

Congrats on the buck, Red. I think the "laws of whitetails" state that a hit deer always runs away from your vehicle and always runs downhill.
