It opens here on the 1st also. I am looking forward to it because groundhogs was such a bust this year. However I was told that where we usually go that flooding destroyed a good portion of the corn so it didn't grow. It looks like the fates are against me.

The property we hunt had a bunch of doves on it a month ago. I understand they have moved on though. Oh well, I'd rather shoot a hand full of squirrels anyway...

Went yesterday afternoon. We saw maybe 10 doves the whole afternoon, none of which was close enough to shoot. As we were driving out to leave, we rounded a corner and saw about 100 of them get up out of a plowed field. Oh well, I guess we'll know where to start off next weekend.

I went Saturday. Saw some birds, but they were scattered. I think I fired 6 shots, got 1 bird - not bad for me. As we were packing up at the end of the day, a bunch of birds came in (of course). I had already unloaded and cased my gun, but the birds went right over a friend of mine, and he got a triple. Pretty good shooting!

Wow, I've done & seen doubles before, but never a triple. I've even killed two birds with one shot, but never three. That guy must really be a good shot. I don't think I'd want to be close to him. I'd never get a shot.

Lol. He is a good shot. The birds flew right over him, too, and he saw them coming, so it was a perfect set up.

We were hoping to go this weekend, but it looks like Florence is going to squelch that.

I hope you are safe, Dovehunter. Right now, I don't know if the storm will rain out my hunt , too.

Grrr! It has rained here nearly every weekend since the season has come in (including this weekend)! Oh well, there's a lot of football.
