I just saw on Facebook that Remington had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Facebook said it was due to slumping sales and student protests resulting from the Fla. school shootings. This is a bad sign folks!

I doubt very much that student protests had anything to do with Remington's bankruptcy - Remmy was in trouble long before that. Remington was bought by a holding company that also owns Marlin and Bushmaster, and probably others. The holding company has been making some really stupid moves, like moving Marlin and Remington from the small towns where they have always been built, to a new plant in NC ( I think). And of course they left the experienced workers behind - people that knew everything about how to make the firearms they proudly made for years. When the beancounters take over a firearm manufacturer, and none of them are hunters and shooters, bankruptcy soon follows. The story that student protests has something to do with Remmy's bankruptcy tells me not to get my news on Facebook.

I've noticed that FB seems to be very liberal in their news reporting - no surprise in that. I have commented to this effect on numerous occasions. It looks like the news media en masse is nothing but a bunch of liberals. A sign of the times.

Facebook is loaded with fake news on both sides, and could face many legal problems soon. Will they go down the road Myspace did and go belly up or is this a company that can thrive for decades? The youth are not using facebook but adults are. I think it's going to be hard for adults to give up their lives and essentially photo albums. Something is going to give though.
I agree Remington has been in trouble for a long time. They were probably the first company to offer dirt cheap centerfire rifles. In that regard, they were a trendsetter. Too bad those rifles were complete junk and subsequent cheap rifles have been much better. They have been taking shortcuts for decades.
