Pickup up a couple of “rusty’s” (reddish brown storage solvent) CMP model 82g’s or gov’ment models as I call em. They put em on special discount and I purchased two more (already had one) and dad picked up two. One of which they call a blonde with a maple stock instead of walnut. These were made for target trainers in the 1980’s when kimber was still in the northwest and not in New York. My original still has the target sights for open sight shooting. The two new ones have been scopes out. They have nice triggers (after a little work) nice heavy barrels and I have been attempting a little bit of benchrest shooting with them. I can not yet keep up with a few of the good old shooters and a young girl who’s father finds her benchrest with tons of money (her current Annie customized BR 22 has had about 7k into the build and customization) I still hold my own at times. We purchased these in canton OHIO for 395 each and the scopes cost more than the guns. Have seen a few for sale at shows for over 750-900 normally without the sights. In cabelas gun library they had one as I bought mine for 1400. When it gets warmer I have the correct ammo (likes 1050 FPS stuff well) and will take some major time to string accuracy out of what I got. I currently know they shoot better than I shoot them. My fathers friend often wins the local benchrest matches and he shoots mine much better than I can.
