I wish the farmer that owns the fields where we hunt groundhogs would cut his hay! The grass is so tall that a groundhog would have to climb a ladder for us to see him!

Well my buddy finally mowed his hay last weekend. Even the bales have been removed. We're going groundhog hunting today! I'll let you know if we got any.

Goof luck! Right after a cutting is usually the best time for woodchucks - takes them a few days to realize their cover is gone.

After two trips of seeing nothing, my son finally got one on July 4th (just before the monsoon set in). It never ceases to amaze me the destructiveness of those Sierra 50 gr. Blitzking bullets out of a 22-250. Hopefully now that we have broken the ice we'll get some decent shooting.

Well if they are not cooperating now, at least they will be there in the fall

Yesterday was a beautiful day: coolish and not windy. You'd think it would have been great for groundhogs. However we sat out there all afternoon, at least 4 hours and didn't see squat. Oh well there's always next weekend.
